if they're just going to let companies do whatever the [censored] they want because the FCC officials are getting paid off?

http://consumerist.com/5029441/fcc-appr ... +xm-merger

Quote:
The Commission approved the controversial merger last night on a 3-2 party-line vote.
Quote:
The company earned Republican Commissioner Deborah Tate's swing vote after agreeing to make a $19.7 million payoff "voluntary contribution" to the FCC for violating Commission regulations.
Quote:
Both Sirius and XM received their satellite radio licenses from the FCC in 1997 under the condition that they never merge.

Meh, after I discovered much of what "Lobbyists" do, something like this doesn't really shock me.

Still, it is Fed up, but what are we gonna do but vote, I guess.

Don't get me started on lobbying. Congress don't serve the people anymore, they server the highest [censored] bidder.

Neither does the FCC. They're appointed, not elected.

Personally I don't think they should exist at all. The government should not tell us what is appropriate to say and what isn't. That's my decison to make, not the FCC's.

Agreed. The FCC doesn't really serve any purpose at all anymore other than to piss everyone off.
