All right, there has been a lot of disscussion on the boards as to what the Basitin are and where they came from originally. Tom has already explicitly stated that Basitin are not a Keidren/human crossbreed, but they seem to be a cross between felines and canines. So, perhaps they are a crossbreed of a feline Keidren clan, and a canine clan. Perhaps Wolf/Fox, I don't know. Wolf is the only canine clan I know for certain is in the comic's world, and fox is the only one I know of which has anywhere near similar bodily structure to the Basitin. Now, there are most likely ones I don't know about, so that's simply a tentative possibility, as is this theory. Opinions?

Quick Summary of above babble: Discuss whether Basitin could be a Keidren crossbreed between a feline clan and a canine clan.

Er...Fox are canids, darlin, so..perhaps fox mixed with a cougar clan?

and it's been stated Kat is a mix breed keidran....does she favor the basitins' build in any way?

If that were true, wouldn't the Basitin be close enough to the Keidran, genetically speaking, to be fertile?

Would make sense Av, as for them bein a crossbreed, I figured they were a race of their own.

Unless it took place thousands ago, which would lend to it as it would explain how Bastians have been mostly forgotten by other races.

Then again, the Bastians are short, and neither side of that mix would cause that.

And their militaristic attitude, where as keidran are open.

They're either fanines or celines. Duh.

Not nessicarily. Remember, when you crossbreed two different species, if they are close enough to cross, the result usually can't breed at all (horse+donkey=mule, mule=sterile). So I suppose the fact that the Basitin breed constantly puts a rather large hole in my theory, but it's an interesting idea.

Here's a WACKY theory: the Basitin species is a unique one. No crossbreeding, no immediately common ancestors. Just a unique species evolving on a chain of islands (which would also explain their short stature as any species confined to an island or small living area naturally evolves to be smaller and thereby consuming less already limited resources) isolated from the rest of the world.

Aliens.

Kidding. My other theory is that they were in fact some kind of Keidrian at some point and because of location and belief, over thousands of years, they just started to change o_O As to what KIND of Keidrian, who knows.

GOT IT. Keith is based off the Caracal cat. That is my new theory.

And here is the evidence:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... cal001.jpg

It would be perfect if not for the black ears, and slightly shorter tail. Otherwise, it's the only feline I could find that has a solid coat and large ears.
Yes I do think Keith is a Feline. Why do you think he and Natani fight so often?
