I've hit a giant wall in my music playing, and am having a TOUGH time getting over (or through) it. Does anyone here know anything thats just kind of epic? Heres a few songs that are my idea of epic.

Tuesdays Gone - Lynyrd Skynyrd
For the Love of God - Steve Vai
Bristol Shore - Eric Johnson
River of Tears - Eric Clapton
Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton
Are you Experienced - Jimi Hendrix

Stuff you better NOT recommend me

Linkin Park
Green Day
MCR
Dragonforce
Metallica
Iron Maiden
Sonata Arctica
Classical music (as much as I like it, I don't like it enough to transcribe it)
Neo-Classical (Yngwie Malmsteen as an example)
And anything like the stuff above, use your imagination.

Now, because I'm such a weird person...I'll take any form of inspiration. stories (nothing overly depressing though please), artwork, other music. And just general stuff.

As you can tell I'm horribly desperate.

You guys suck. :( I actually would like serious replies, as an event is coming up and I'd really like the write something that's sort of breathtaking or moving in general.

Even though Never gonna give you up is a good song.

Adele - Howntown Glory link
Biffy Clyro - Machines link
Damien Rice - The Blowers Daughter link
Johnny Cash - Hurt (Nine Inch Nails Cover) link

Might not all meet you description of 'Epic' but they all move me, and that's what you're looking for right? I suggest if you want to be a serious songwriter to invest a good deal of time in liostening to Damien Rice who I mentioned above. The guy is a poet and quite possibly the best song writer I've ever heard.

Hope that helps you.

You should listen to some Stevie Ray Vaughan...maybe "Love Struck Baby"...or "The Sky is Crying"...or his take on Hendrix's "Little Wing"...

I'm strictly old school....okay, a few new bits move me. I'm a big fan of Mason Williams and Chip Davis. I adore Mere Image (the song that plays on my myspace page...www.myspace.com/branbera) and Midnight on a full Moon. (the man uses a toy piano, and makes it sound awesome!)
Mason Williams big claim to fame is the little ditty known as Classical Gas....which is mostly guitar.

I find John Williams' stuff VERY inspirational. I'd love to hear some of the Harry Potter stuff transcribed for Guitar.

and I love "Wizards in Winter" by the Trans Siberian Orchestra.

and a real guitar Hero was George Harrison, of Beatles fame. Just listen to how that guitar talks in "Here comes the Sun" or "As my guitar gently weeps"

...was any of that helpful?

Thanks all, I've pretty much got what I needed. Nothing like a huge music breakthrough, but enough to get me over the damned wall.
