I just got back from the theater after watching Wall-E and I'm still riding the euphoria, heehee! Pixar has outdone themselves. I mean, this movie beats out Shrek. It was absolutely divine to watch.

The story is usually the only thing I'm used to criticizing in a Pixar film, but this one has no flaws that I saw worth even mentioning. Seeing the history of events - past, present, and future - unfold was flawlessly paced and all unfolded without any feeling of things being forced onto you. Everything had its own place, from the most basic to the most futuristic, in the story. Nothing felt impossible.

The characters made the movies though, WALL-E, EVE, and Earth's former population combined. The film didn't just focus an unmoving eye on the hero/heroine, but moved from place to place as WALL-E and EVE traveled through the story. What I found to be the most satisfying was how you saw your opinions of characters shift ever so smoothly from your initial impression to another more knowledged one. That was the absolute high point.

But most of all, the amount of nostalgia you feel during the film is enough to melt the stoniest of faces. Something as simple as a boot carries the highest of significance in a world that has no use for it. The thought that the only character in the film that understands (in his own curious way) how significant some seemingly insignificant creations of ours are, while humans have all but forgotten of their existance... damn, that's good stuff.

Watch WALL-E. Then watch it again. This isn't just worth the $9 theater ticket, it's worth a second ticket. Take some friends. Then take some more. This is Pixar's #1 movie. It's worth every red cent.

I'm dying to see this, and you're not helping Fastchapter. xP
I've had high hopes for this since I saw the first trailer, and you've just made me want to see it even more. :o

Loved this movie. Fastchapter was correct in everything he said, it's so cute and yet so awesome for the older folks too, y'know?

Good movie to watch with a group. You will get laid by everybody. Twice.

I can relate to that. When I first saw the posters and super-bowl commercial I thought it was a lame imitation of another Disney move Short Circuit, something like “Johnny 5 travels through space”. When I heard that WALL-E is a robotic love story rather than just any sci-fi flick, I decided give it “the benefit of the doubt” and go see the movie. Fortunately my doubts served me well. Fastchapter’s review of the movie is right on the money, WALL-E is a “must see” movie.

What I like most about WALL-E is the actions and interactions of the characters. The movie has little dialogue (other than the robots calling each other by name), but you can understand and enjoy the plot based on what the character’s do. The only complaint I had was the frequent singing from the musical Hello, Dolly. I hate musicals, but even this complaint is trivial and does not ruin the overall greatness of the film.

Don’t let the “G” rating fool you. There are numerous references to live action films, such as the voice of Sigourney Weaver, as Ship's Computer, from the Alien films and robots play the bad guy, like HAL from 2001: A Space Odyssey, movies that are supposed to be enjoyed by adults. The fact that WALL-E is about two robots falling in love, with Disney cuteness, will most liketly set a romantic mood with your girlfriend, no worries there.

I was amazed at how much emotion they could squeeze out of machines that never truly spoke. Each one had its own sort of warbling chitter that set it apart from the others. Only rarely - when emotions were running high - did you hear a solidly decipherable word that you knew had nothing to do with a machine. And damned if it wasn't the coolest thing ever.

I actually liked the "Hello Dolly" segments. It not only refers to a more innocent time as a planet for the characters, but one for us as well. I'm not a huge musical fan, but I do enjoy the comedies and horror musicals as of late. ^^ The fact that WALL-E had it playing in an old VCR, through an iPod, and then magnified with a super-futuristic thingy just made my day.

Only a maintenance robot from the super-future could keep a VCR running *that* long. XD

I had been awake for twelve hours prior to watching the movie, so I was kind worried that I'd fall asleep during it. But the experience was so enchanting. The storytelling was suburb, every part felt important. The characters were all interesting, and there was never a 'get off the screen already' moment.

It's not everyday that a film makes one want to appreciate the world around you despite its flaws. It's that fascination with the simple things that life and the future have boundless possibility is what ticks me off about those 'Baaaw! I'm immortal, eternity's so dull blablabla' stories.

Trying to find a good torrent of this movie (want to watch it again) but Jesus, how do these people not notice that they're slicing 3-5 feet off of the screen top or sides? The last one I downloaded showed the Pixar intro, but it was an "IXAR" logo.

Viewfinders, much?

EDIT:

If you're looking for a quality download, this one finally released. Near-DVD quality, everything's on par.

My only complaint was that my friends were making out during the entire movie. xD
