Here is a list of web, file, and image hosting sites. Also some tools. I have done my best to make sure the comments on each are accurate, and helpful.

Useful websites:

1.0 - Image hosting.

http://www.imageshack.us - Imageshack is a very large image-host. Rarely have I seen an image deleted from Imageshack, however if you put an image in your signature of too many forums, or have it posted on too many websites, you can exceed the bandwidth limit and it will be replaced by an error image. As far as image-hosting sites go, its very nice. 3MB limit on files.

http://www.turboimagehost.com - Interesting site. Allows archive with up to 30 images uploaded, 45MB limit on that. No registration needed. 3MB limit. No bandwidth limit.

http://www.photobucket.com - This seems to be the de-facto host everyone here uses. You have to register an account before uploading anything, and somewhat restricted bandwidth limits. 1MB file size and 1024X768 max resolution - Not good for hosting large images or screen-shots.

http://tinypic.com - I don't know much about this one - I have seen it used some however, and never seen a "bandwidth exceeded" message from them. 190MB file size? (Someone please verify this)

1.1 - File Hosting

http://www.filedropper.com - This one looks nice. File deleted after some period of inactivity, direct file access allowed! No wait times. Parallel downloading, I don't know. 5GB limit.

http://www.megaupload.com - This one is OK. Again, Capcha for downloading, no parallel, files deleted after 21 days of inactivity. 1024MB file-size limit.

http://www.rapidshare.de - De-facto file host. Capcha for downloading, no parallel, your files deleted after 30 days with no downloads. 300MB file-size limit.

http://www.mediafire.com - Direct file access allowed, deleted after 6 months inactivity. Again, direct access *is* allowed. 100MB limit.

1.2 - Web Hosting

http://www.xepher.net - What missmab.com is hosted on. Exclusive(for artistic websites only). Unlimited within reason space, un-metered bandwidth. For artistic websites only. I believe they require proof of an already existing webpage. Very nice, but its hard to get.

http://www.silverinterlocution.org - Starting account, 50MB space, 800MB bandwidth. No ads. Cpanel. Adult files NOT ALLOWED. Subdomain(yourname.silverinterlocution.org)/domain of your own. No file-size limits. Free upgrades to space/bandwidth upon request. Manual request, must post on forums. I am an admin here and can help make accounts/answer questions. I have been using it for over three years now, never had a problem.

http://92.48.69.8 - Space on a VPS that I manage. 100MB space, 2GB bandwidth. No ads. Cpanel. Adult files ALLOWED. No file-size limits. Free upgrades. Direct IP link/subdomain(yourname.wildernessguardians.com)/domain of your own. PM me to request.

http://members.freewebs.com - Webhosting for beginners. 40MB space, 500MB bandwidth. No PHP/MySQL. No FTP. Upgrades either cost money or require ads.

http://www.free-webhosts.com - Nice index, searchable. Advanced search.

http://www.absolutely-free-hosting.com - Advanced search. Smallish list.

http://www.100best-free-web-space.com/s ... -Host.html - No advanced search, largish list.

1.3 - Social art websites

http://www.deviantart.com - Everything goes it seems. De-facto standard for this type of site.

http://www.furaffinity.net - Basically, DeviantArt for furries.

1.4 - URL manipulation services.

http://tinyurl.com - URL shortening service. Preview optional.

http://snipurl.com - Same as above, no preview however.

http://www.kirun.co.uk/web/makealongerlink - URL *lengthening* service! Preview mandatory.

Tools:

2.1 - Image/drawing tools.

http://www.gimp.org - The Gimp. A free, open-source replacement for Photoshop. Very nice, and can do most anything. Can be used for simpler things, like resizing GIF animation.

http://www.irfanview.com - Irfanview. This program is a great image viewer and has some image-editing stuff in it. I use it for flipping through directories of images or comics. Lightweight. Also plays media files.

http://sketchup.google.com - Free, simple 3D sketching program. The free version can do everything the pro version can, aside from saving as a non-sketchup file. Anyone can draw in 3D using this, it is so simple.

2.2 - Audio tools.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net - Audacity. All-in-one audio editing tool. Free, open-source.
http://www.fridgesoft.de/harddiskogg.php - Harddisk Ogg - Free, very simple audio recording program. Records to Ogg, MP3(if you have the codec), and a couple other file-formats.

2.3 - Other tools.

http://www.rarlab.com - WinRAR. All-in-one compression/decompression utility. Shareware, however after the 30 day trial period is up, it simply gives a nag message every time you open it. VERY USEFUL.

http://www.mozilla.com/firefox - FireFox. Free, open source web browser. Extensions are easy to make and readily available. A direct competitor to Microsoft Internet Explorer. Very nice. In my opinion, the best browser ever(I am using it now).

http://www.htmlvalidator.com/lite - CSE HTML Validator Lite. Free HTML editor & validator. Syntax highlighting for all sorts of files. Great for everything as a notepad replacement.

http://www.flashget.com - FlashGet. Nice, free download manager. Scheduling, FTP, HTTP, Torrents & eMule protocols. Very useful.

Doesn't have everything, that I know, but it is a good start. If you have anything to add, please post.

I'm currently trying to upload a mp3 on the internet, however I'm clueless. Any suggestions? Impressive list.

Well, first off, what are you trying to do with it? If you are just uploading it to have people download and listen to it(like for posting on this forum), you can use one of those file hosts. If it gives you an error like "mp3 not allowed", just put it into a zip file.

If you were attempting to upload it so you can post it on this forum and have a little "play" button appear in your post however... you are out of luck. The forum doesn't support it.

If that answers your question, great. If not, just ask again.

It was the latter but It was not for the forum.

I use Photobucket for the most part. :P
