The games not free, but there is a 14 day trial. I thought I'd check it out.

The trail is on the City of Heroes game site

Yeah, CoH is intensive. They like particle effects...A lot. I'd say it's much more resource intensive than, say, WoW, who prefer a minimalistic approach to models which is a little more appropriate for MMOs, but CoH is very pretty.

I play; generally on Pinnacle, both Heroes and Villains sides. Personally, I like CoV better (the missions feel like they have more character to them throughout, while the early CoH missions don't seem as interesting. The later ones pick up significantly though.)

-- Some things to note --
Some CoH classes are fun to solo, some are not. (Defenders do not solo well. They're a blast to play in teams, but they are a drag to solo.) The combat is much faster paced than WoW, and they did some (IMHO) stupid things with they're UI choices, so nearly every key is slaved to something in the menus. This makes doing things while moving around the map somewhat irritatingly difficult to do, and it's not very easy to hold conversations with people while you're playing. That's why my friends and I run a Ventrilo server on the side when we play; otherwise it'd be hard to do team play particularly effectively.

Hmmmmmm... I'll see how this all works out. Faster paced play sound excelent really, and I hear the character creator is absolutely wonderful. I'll probably play around with that a whole bunch first.

I have a idea in my head now. Professor Science, a humble physics student gifted by the anthropomorphic manifestation of science with magic science powers.

That's right: MAGIC science powers :D

Oh, the character creator is really cool, and they're always adding a lot of new options to it. The last issue actually added the ability to pull up a complete costume set, so you can more easily start from somewhere and customize it.

If i make a Villan, he will be "The Phospholipid Bilayer"

He is only permeable to PURE EVIL

EDIT:

All right then, Professor Science is live, and ready to teach non-secular evil a serious lesson; IN PAIN!

I played CoV/CoH for awhile. My main was a stalker, got her to lvl 50 in under a month lol. I'm disappointed that the villian epic came out a couple days before AoC -_-

Well, since you had mentioned it as your server, and I don't know anyone else with the game, I thought I'd go with Pinacle. You know, just in case.

Well, that explains that. *wry grin* The other thing the game makes somewhat difficult is tracking people down. It's easier once you've got them on your friend list, but initially, it's not particularly simple at all. Give a shout when you go online, eh?
