Ah, I don't know if this thread existed before, or if this is even the right place to post it, but here I go.
Does anyone have Opencanvas 1.1 (or other decent online paint-chat program --that is free--, which you must tell me about if you know)? 1.1 is free and available on the web so you can even go download it right now in matter of seconds. What's nice about this thing is that it allows paint-chats. And I really want to see others here draw, y'know? Yeah.

Yeah, I used open canvas a while ago. Its amazing for just raw sketching and has amazing speed when recording and playing your work. Although as far as final work I tend to stay with photoshop. If you are looking for a couple of free drawing programs I might also suggest gimp, if you have windows (which I assume at least 75% of you do) then you can get it for free here: http://www.gimp.org/windows/. Gimp is an open source photo editing and drawing program, similar to photoshop yet not as bulky or powerful.

There are also a couple of other quick sketching programs like Autodesk (used to be Alias ) Sketchpad, which is also amazing for sketching, but not very free.

The later versions of Open canvas are also not free but come with more features if you are interested. Not sure if 1.1 has the ability to record drawings though.

Er... my main point in writing this thread was for doing paint chats with others. Opencanvas 1.1 is the latest of the only versions that allow networking with other people. I already have Opencanvas 4.5.

So, if anyone's interested in paint chats, just post here. Whether it's between you and me or someone else, or this whole bunch of people (maximum is four, though :x), simply say it if you're interested.

We used to do paint chats once in a while with a few members of the chatroom. The hardest part is finding someone who is able to host the paintchat (I do believe I'm still not able to) because of routers and other things. If you do start up a chat, make sure everyone is in there before anyone starts drawing. If I remember correctly, joining after things have started causes some issues.

OpenCanvas 1.1 is fun to doodle in, but it is certainly not well made for really big projects. It also takes a while to mess around and find just the right brush settings for your drawing style. I never used the recording features, so I can't say much about them.

If you're really interested in paintchats, there is also artgrounds.com. The sketcher program isn't too bad and the community was great when I was around a lot last year.

You can only see things that were drawn when you were there, yes.

So is anyone actually up for this, like, anytime soon? I can do both the joining or the hosting.

kinda looks like its meant for windows 95.. but gimp is also an equal to photoshop, more of a competitive type (since their both trying to be better, "Mines better" "no mine is")
Better then photoshop in my opinion cause its free.

sadly i dont have opencanvas

I cant draw to save my life, but I would gladly provide witty conversation to people who can. And maybe some ninjas. I will be home in about 1.25 hours. But I dont really know how to connect with someone else w/ this program :p

Didn't read my post, have you? Opencanvas 1.1 is free and available for download, and it just so happens to be only 342 kilobyte.

"Server" window, which is the first tab in the Networks window, you can set your displayed name as the host of your server. You may also set the password for your server if you don't want anyone else getting in.

Image
Network Preferences allows you to set the desired canvas size, max number of people to be allowed in your server (max: 4), and number of layers to be used for each member (max: also 4). I really recommend seeing this tab before starting up a server, because every settings are set near minimum by default.

Image
The Client tab is your "connecting" tab. You have to write down the IP of the host, and your displayed name in the server. If the server requires a password, write it down in the password box.

The IP in the picture is my IP.

WHERE DO I SIGN XD ! I would love to comment directly to someone who is drawing or the other way around ^.^ And even though I have Photoshop®, interactivity between users while doing drawings is something really sweet in my opinion.

This is the direct link to download.

Also, it's not just about commenting on each other live, it's also about drawing collaborative pieces on a same canvas.

I think I'll host a server up for the entire day today, 'cause I can't do anything else on the computer right now anyways. I probably won't be there most of the time, but if you're interested, or just checking out if networking works or not, just follow this image to connect.

Is it normal that I used the program one time, and now when I open it, it's all in weird caracters ? I redownloaded it and now it's still the same, I think I can manage to comprehend some things, but it's not fun like that
