Well, I finally got paid and ergo, I bought Crysis. So far, wow. Just wow. Graphics are phenominal, but beyond that the gameplay is what I've been waiting for ever since I had my old copy of Delta Force 2 in '99. This might sound lame, but you can hide. For hell's sake you can HIDE.
What's that? You've accidentally attracted the attention of ten angry Koreans? Why, just lay prone in the thick underbrush and pray to whatever god you pray to that they'll miss you!
Seriously, it works 50/50 like it should. Either you get lucky and the suspicious N.K. soldier doesn't see you, or they find you and unload bullets into your spine. Me likey. Me likey a lot.
What's probably my only disappointment is the limited use you have of your suit's superpower thingies. You're limited to a battery that, like batteries do, runs out. It runs out FAST, as a matter of fact. Cloaking, which is my favorite so far, lasts longer if you stay still or move slowly. Run fast, cloak drains fast. So you're not so much limited by time as you are by range. I'd rather have a steady battery drain than this new-fangled logic-driven mechanism.
Strength is awesome. Grab an enemy and choke them to death? YES SIR!!
Speed is... no. It lasts maybe 10ft and your battery is dead. I still haven't found a spot where this is more helpful than just armoring up and going Rambo on people.
Armor? Did I mention armor? Yes I did. Armor rocks. You're not going to be able to pick soldiers off one at a time. You need to take on three, four, five, hell a village at one point so far, and armor is Jesus-juice for me. The only time you won't need this is in "Pussy" difficulty, in which everyone dies with one shot. Bah humbug!
Vehicles rock. Period.
Oh, minor complaint. I like to cheat, and this game doesn't let you do it too easily. There's an in-game console but you have to unlock it if you want to punch cheats in during the game. I haven't figured this part out yet, even though I'm apparently only supposed to type "con_restricted = 0" and it should work. I've been forced to instead add cheats to the game's configure files, which is risky because - it's happened already today - it corrupts the game file. Not surprising, or unique to this game. You don't tinker with those files.
Also, with cheats, where's my infinite battery?! I want to cloak 24/7 dammit! Come on!!
Otherwise... WOOHOO!! 9.5/10
I sleep now. Maybe comment on multiplayer once I get bored of single player.
