Ok here's what happened. I watch my 3 year old nephew whenever my sister is at work. Today went by like any ordinary day until 4:00. My nephew decides it's fun to jump from the couch to his little Cars dinner table. I've tried numerous ways to get through to this kid so don't ask. His last little jump was a little unlucky. He slips on the table and falls to the floor. I'm not fast enough to catch him, and the back of his head hits the floor hard. But that's not the worst of it. As a result he accidently bit into his lip leaving a big dent inside the mouth of his lip, and cuts the front under his lip. I immediately picked him up, and went to get a rag and soak it with cold water. At first when I inspected it, keep in mind that I had the shock of my life, it almost looked like he had bitten through his lip. When I calmed down little, I took a closer look. He had not bitten through his lip, but it certainly looked close. Around 4:20, mostly because I don't have a car and because I had no idea where she was, she doing some sort of job search over the internet, she comes home. I explained to her what happened. She also immediately thought the same thing, and we took him to the hospital. He is fine now. The doctor said that the wound inside his mouth will heal quickly. She said that the cut under his lip had to be glued though. Here's the strangest thing though. After my sister and I got in the hospital, and had him signed up and everything, he turned calm. In fact, in between the times of long waits to see the nurse first and to see the doctor, he turned cheerier and cheerier until he was almost happy. The doctor said that he has a high tolerence of pain. We came home after his cut was glued up, and he has been happy ever since. On a side I hate waiting in the hospitals. They take too long to admit you.

When I had to take my baby in for a *ahem* minor surgery, yeah, is that thread still around here somewhere? I think I made my opinion of hospital waits rather clear there....and still used uncensored language.

But yes, waiting in a hospital stinks like 3 months dead polecat.
by the way, I have a nephew like that...I understand.

Hm...Your little nephew kinda reminds me of me. He was happy and stuff int he hospital? Heck, I was all sunshine and smiles for the five days I was waiting to get my jaw wired shut after I broke it last month. I was even able to chew very very soft things, like well prepared fries, and chili. And not a drop of painkiller. Now, the first four days after I got the screws and wires put in...Yeah, I was moaning for painkiller after I woke up, and depended on painkillers to get through the days. I still kept smiling though

I have a cousin that's had more stitches than Frankenstein, from all the stupid stunts he's pulled. No, he never learned.
My first daughter thought she could fly, and would continually run off the edge of the coffee table.
We don't have a coffee table anymore.
Even after wee boy's surgery, he had the nurses wrapped around he chubby fingers. I have charmers. :D

and I really think the "good cheer" thing is a coping mechanism for dealing with stuff. Like, in the middle of a fight, I'll get a strange urge to smile or laugh, and it's all I can do to stop it.
