The thing looks amazing, you guys should check it out. The video on the site explains the whole concept of the phone.

If your going to go into hypothetical futures like that then why not just have it directly in her brain?

I think the three words to remember were in the beginning of the video:

Possibilities

Might

Future

It's a wonderful thought - I'll think more on it later as I fly my rocketcar home from the spaceport...

I for one am absolutely shocked to see so many negative reactions here!

How can you people not be excited about this?!

Because it's an obviously over-assuming pie-in-the-sky pipe dream? How can the "phone" have a dozen different surfaces? Every time they zoom in, it has a different surface...it's can't do all of those things at the same time - it is a nice "what-if", but it's about as realistic as the Disney Tomorrowland...

Well, I was under the impression that it was designed to be able to morph between types - so, like if its not being used, it goes to "grass" charging mode - you touch it or w/e and it goes to last-used mode, or something like that.

Yes, its a concept. Yes, its definitely a pipe dream, although it certainly could be possible.

A bulky laptop-sized one would be much cooler - fold it into a small, thick box when your done with it, stretch it out into various shapes and sizes as needed.

One thing that it needs to have, but I saw no mention of it, is a way for it to repair itself - what if you manage to crack it, or file a little off one edge? Can it re-create a few molecules to replace the lost ones, could you simply stick on some new material which would get incorporated(like clay), or even simply just become that much smaller?

I only watched about a minute of it before realizing it was going to be all concepts and "what ifs" based on technology that will take a few decades to be developed or cheap enough for consumers.

Actually I stopped when the thing morphed into an ear piece.

It's a nice idea, great for science fiction and it's nice to be making these guesses at what's to come. I sincerly doubt we'll see "morph" do what this concept video talks about.

And it's not negativity, it's skepticism. Yeah, it would be awesome to have a malleable computer gadget. Considering the level of technology availible now, and the limits of silicon, this kinda stuff is still a decade or two away (at least).

Oh, and the paper thin, flexable screens are possible... I remember seeing something like it once somewhere, don't know what ever happened to that bit of R&D.

They are available now... but a bit expensive.
