Programs, such as NPCs, are becoming increasingly hostile, monsters are becoming stronger, and players are succumbing to something even worse than these: hackers. Those struck by the "Data drain" (an imitation of the more renowned version, this one only deletes the character data and replaces it with a tough monster replica, leaving the user unharmed) quickly either quit the game or sought shelter. Mac Anu has fallen to become a hacker's paradise, and only the firewalls around Carmina Galedica are strong enough to withstand the hacker's attempts for domination of the world due to the extra security precautions taken for the arena. CC corp is Extriditing any and all hackers they can, using I.P. Bans, even to unfortunate players who get in the way or whom they think might be hackers, but this doesn't stop the hackers, as most of the more powerful hackers simply use a random IP address or one of their victims (sadly, this means that the victim cannot create another character). The hackers have not taken any known precaution against player weapons as of yet, but this might very well change. It is largely assumed that the majority of the hackers dominion do not know sufficient coding to attempt this.

The hackers claim to follow one person, under the banner of the "Prophet", but little of this entity is known about CC corp and they are doing their best to keep this tidbit from leaking to the masses.

Players will be just starting in the world, and will run across normal monsters, hacked monsters, hackers and hacked player-monsters. All will be vulnerable to weaponry as any normal monster would be, so there will be no "No damage" situations. Players will be encouraged to stay in Carmina Galedica for all their town needs: all other towns have violent NPCs or hackers roaming about them to certain and varying degrees.

I saw one with this girl that lost her mind in the game and then this brown blob came by and started to protect him, Then there was that cat thing I like that one the best.

why don't you go and explain what the classes are for the rest of us out here. All I know is that wavemaster is a magic-user.

sheesh, all right. Classes are mainly divided by the types of weapon and armor they're proficient with, or at least that's all I noticed as core differences in gameplay

Blademasters use one medium-sized one-handed blade in battle. They can wear light, medium and heavy armors.

Heavy Axemen use axes, and can also wear all types of armor.

Heavy Blades use huge, double-handed swords and katanas, and may also use all armor types.

the above three are the best "Fighter" type classes, meaning they're suited for people who like to get real close and beat their opponents to death.

Long Arms are best known for their pole arm weapons and light movement. They may only use light and medium armor.

Twin Blades use dual blades or daggers, and may only use light or medium armor.

These two classes are a more agile type of fighter, with some more spellcasting ability than that of the fighter types.

Wavemasters use rods and staves, and can only equip the lightest armor. They are the best with magic and are an almost essential part of any team.

The above class is the Mage type, best suited for combat away from the opponent (and preferably behind the fighter types)

Informant: PCs who sell information on how to conquer the game for money.
Traders: PCs who broker items to be traded.
Singers/Comedians: PCs who perform on street corners and in dungeons.
Guard: PCs who voluntarily protect the justice of The World.

These classes are special cases, and will most likely be treated as sub-classes if any, since they are more professions than the more permanent weapon style choices.

for those who are wondering, I'm well aware of the "Adept Rouge" class, and I'm voluntarily keeping it out. It gets a bit tedious if you introduce a class that can use all weapon types, as most players spring for a chance to lug around a small armory on their backs.

This is G.U. version right? Where's the Flick Reaper? I love that class. Always been kinda partial to Scythes.

Well, here's my character.

User Name: Billy Morgan
User description: A short man, he is kinda insecure about his height. He has a large nose, and wears glasses most of the time. He usually wears contacts if he has to go out.
User personality: He knows quite a bit about computers, just not too much about software. He takes things a bit too personally, and has a shorter fuse than most, losing his temper if he gets beaten too quickly for his liking.
Character name: Caedo
Character Gender: Male
Class: Flick Reaper
Description: A very tall PC, he wears a long, robe-like garment, that does not cover his legs, but does cover the area between. He has some large gloves, that also serve as impromptu guards. The facial markings are an upside down ^ on his chin, and two little horizontal strips under his eyes.
History: He was the manager of the IT personnel for CC corp at the time of The World R:1. He was the manager on duty the night the servers exploded. Looking for someone on which to place the blame, he was fired as responsible for the problems. He played R:1, but never to a high degree. He now plays R:2 most of his free time, and when off from work as an office chimp. He was banned, having been hacked. He managed to get an old acquaintance to un-ban him, even tho he has to start over at Level 1.((he is just a generic office worker now.))
Contacts: Many of his co-workers play The World, and he has all of their addresses, but they don't usually play together, as they get enough of each other at work. The only one that actually plays with Billy is his boss, who will refer to him frequently as Will online, which bugs Billy to no end. He also still knows a single admin from CC corp, who managed to "survive" the massive layoffs after the server explosion. They are not in contact often, as they only barely knew each other.

And the Flick Reaper class is quite a bit like the Long Arm class. I believe they use medium/light armor, and focus more on attack and speed, and less on defense.

Flick Reaper: I know 'em, just not what kind of armor they're allowed to use. Haseo could use any, but he was an adept rouge, not a flick reaper.

History: has your user had any previous experience in the world? with other players? with CC corp? if so, what?
Contacts: Who does your user/character know? any other players who are his/her friends offline? any co-workers? bosses? nemesi? who has he/she met in-game? Have they befriended an admin? a mod? a hacker? or nobody at all?

Thanks. I'll go edit my profile now.

And I'll go look up some info on Flick Reapers. There was a single flick reaper in the game, but he joined late, so I never quite got down what he was allowed to equip.

Mind if I throw mine in, this one being about a gaming world and me being a nerdy I.T/programmer guy find this one more in my area of expertise. Ill toss this guy in, ill change him if hes too unreasonable.

Edit)

User Name: Matt
User description: light build with fair skin, blue eyes and brown/copper hair down to the end of his back. In top physical condition
User personality: Having a masters in programming in several languages he rarely ever goes anywhere much working as a contractor hes made a reputation in the programming sector as 'That Guy', even so he keeps his body in top condition just in case of something, he is a very odd and rather outlandish man out to stop all the hackers all by himself even if it means gaming with a bunch of kids, if anything using them as shields.
Character name: Hox
Character Gender: Male
Class:Wavemaster
Description: Image
History: Been watching the game for a couple years hes finally decided to join in and try to stop the hackers on their own turf, as its much of his work that they are messing with. He was hired every so often to code for new security patches and upgrades. His pride and reputation are at risk and he wont take it, not from a bunch of wanna be Black Hats.
Contacts: several evil hackers that want him gone as he was able to lock them from his system and privatize 32 IP addresses that route him directly to the game servers.

Oh yeah. The characters are supposed to be level one... I'll go change the history a bit so that it is like this.

Also, Keaoden, I believe in the poll to decide this RP, Lohti said no hackers. Gonna wait for him to say something, but that's all I have to say.

Billy "Will" Morgan / Caedo is approved.

Hox might be approved, but he sounds... kinda cardboard. Why is he after the hackers? and why is someone in peak physical condition bothering themselves with an MMORPG?

personal insecurities/twisted sense of justice, but I will add to his personality and history to make his reasoning more clear.

much better, he's got a reason for what he does now... it'll help define his character. Matt/Hox Approved.

also, he may have firewalled 32 IP addresses, but if the hackers get strong enough they may break some of them down.

User Name: Jack D. Witherspoon
User description: 15 years old boy, average build but kinda short(167 cm). He has dark brown hair and green eyes.
User personality: He's a very curious person and always asks questions that might be a little personal. His life dream is to become journalist and he joined the game with the purpose of solving many of it's mysteries.
Character name: Konrad
Character Gender: Male
Class: Flicker aka Flick Reaper
Description: His lv.1 newly created char, he's the same size as Jack but with white hair and red eyes. He wears black shorts and shirt and wields a steel scythe.
History: Jack is a normal teenager, he's an only child and his motehr and father work a lot so they can keep living in the 'better' part of town. He's the leader of a small gang of pupils who want to solve all mysteries in the world. His companions are Reyna, Al and Joey who are all in the same class as he is.
Contacts: Reyna, a girl who has always helped him with his problems, she's the daughter of a police officer. Al, a boy with incredible height but he is very skinny and finally Joey, the typical nerd complete with glasses and braces, has played The World for a while and is lv. 39, while the rest have just finished creating their characters.

P.S. http://dothack.wikia.com/wiki/.hack//Wiki
lot's of info, also, I vote data drain to be tha same as it used to be, I want a lot of Jack's friends to fall in to coma, since I'm so very evil.

I know I'll have to much work to do this in the future..But here's a character with minimal interaction required. 'Cause I want to join anyways.
User Name: World_Nemesis.exe
User description: A vagrant AI designed by a hacker to provide a challange. his programming is housed in an overclocked gaming computer to offset his ridiculously long code.
User personality: awkward around people, he tries (and usually fails) to make a party. He never stops and is constantly leveling so he can hunt hackers.
Character name: Judas
Character Gender: Male
Class: Blade brandier
Description: Judas stands at an average height for a teenager, and is skinny and agile. He has blue eyes and messy brown hair. He wears a white shirt, brown pants, a chaninmail shirt, and leather gloves. He uses a single light katana as a weapon.

History: hacking a game and skipping straight to the level cap can be fun, but it gets boring after a while. A bored hacker realized that he needed an opponent who would tirelessly hunt him down to make the game interesting again, but who could be deactivated if he got to powerful. Thus World_Nemesis.exe was born. World nemesis's goal is to defeat his creator in combat in the world, which will end his function, killing him. In the world, World Nemesis is growing much faster than a normal AI would. He was designed to learn from his mistakes, and the extreme amount of experiences in the world may cause him to develop sapience if he is left alone long enough. He is sentient, which is a milestone he only recently reached.
Contacts: none. His creator is busy with other stuff, and leaves World_Nemesis running on an empty computer.

Side notes: His creator forgot to put in his username, so World_Nemesis does not know which hacker to fight. World_Nemesis views his death after defeating his creator as a good thing, and has several blocks to prevent him from commiting suicide (can't give out IP, avoids overheating his computer, etc.) World_Nemesis has only just started the world, sticking to simpler games beforehand to evolve. If the Cobalt Knights know of his exsistence, they don't really care.

User Name: Julian
User description: Rather short, with a small build and long, black hair with the ends dyed blonde; grey-blue eyes.
User personality: Fairly asocial, and not very talented with computers, he likes to play alone most of the time, but will party up with others if the situation demands it. He is unnervingly calm most of the time and would almost never yell or insult another player purposefully.
Character name: Dom
Character Gender: Male
Class: Twin Blade
Description: Very androgynous, wearing a grey-and-blue long-coat over a grey&blue, tight-fitting shirt and loose shorts. He wears brown leather boots and a black collar around his neck.
History: He never played R:1, though he understood the core mechanics from his schoolmates and often heard of their exploits in the World. During the Second Network Crisis, his closest friend died in a car accident, and Julian, having nothing else to do, eventually turned his attention to R:2 where he is just beginning his first ever character.
Contacts: He has no real contacts to speak of; he knows his classmates, but he doesn't particularly enjoy their company, choosing to join parties as necessary and disband immediately after the completion of their task.
