Today there was a tornado in Lake City FL where I live it was bad. At school the power went out the tornado passed a 1/4 of a mile from the school and you could see it from the hall way where we were hiding, it`s a mess right now 1 of the 2 hospitals was hit walmart made it lowes got hit the roof was ripped off publix the animal shelter barely made it and then it hit downtown. My brother and I were next to each other in the hall way and saw the tornado it was scarry. What would you do in a situation like this.

My dorm (and most of the building on my campus) double as bomb/fallout shelters. I'd just head downstairs.

Umm... During a tornado, if I saw all that happen, I would put my head between my legs, and kiss my butt goodbye. So, what are you gonna do now that it's over and there is much destruction? Not much you can do. Wait for the rebuilding is pretty much all that you can do.

Or, are you asking what we would do if we were that close to a tornado of great destruction? I would... put my head between my legs and kiss my butt goodbye.

In all seriousness, I don't see what you are really asking. Care to clarify?

I'm a Nebraskan. In general, we go to the front porch, snag some passing furniture, and watch the storm until a funnel touches down within a couple miles, and then go down to the basement. The general rule is to go to an inner area with no windows (surrounded by concrete, like the halls of a school or a lot of dorms or to the basement, is best) and wait the thing out.

I'm lucky to live in Manitoba, where that kinda [censored] only happens once in a blue moon. But if by some happenstance it did, I'd grab the guinea pigs and the important papers, and head downstairs FAST (I live on the third floor ).

From what I saw on some television shows, I think the best thing to do is to hide in the basement and not near things that are most likely to fall (example: sitting next a boxes one on top of the other = BAD IDEA).

I never saw or heard any tornadoes in Quebec from a long time, but it seems pretty intense, the good thing is that you're ok.

Wisconsinite here, get enough of those things as it is.

First thing we do when we hear the sirens is the traditional "Let's go see if we can see it!"

Yeah, we don't exactly do smart things.

A tornado? Here? Pfft.

But if it did strike, I'd probably head down to a nearby bomb shelter. It's just three minutes away.

Would a concrete building survive a tornado? Everyone lives in apartment buildings here.

We used to get them back east - no sirens there, either...

Was once actually in one - took down three trees beside my house - we just ran down into the basement and hid under a shelf...

Not much else you can do, really...

We dont get Tornados, we get Really bad thunderstorms. which is really funny because the TV screws up big time. Also going outside is a big No No. Last time it hailed, the hailstones where the size of large marbles. It hurt bad if you went outside.

CRYSTAL TORNADO!!!!

We had a cat 3 Tornado use Prattville (20 min from Montgomery, tops) as a plaything. They're still cleaning up. Luckily, nobody was killed, some serious injuries, though.

And we have sirens, we hear them a Lot. We've started ignoring the sirens, since they use them if it rains harder than a drizzle.

Cat 3 would refer to a hurricane, friend, :)

You're thinking F3.

thanks sug, I have more to do with hurricanes down here, than Tornados. Why won't they use the same terminology??? They are both expressions of intensity.

Yeah expect to get tornados a bit often now days, with how the weather has been. I saw one that was forming not far from where I live. Fortunately it stopped halfway through. Anyways if i were in a situation like that I would go into either a closet or the public restrooms at our pool. Those things might have a bit of glass, but are completely cement.
