Like Great Cthullu, I rise from the depths!

I thought that since I have recently joined the forum, and the forum happens to be about a visual medium that is mutually appreciated by a large amount of people, I felt that a bit of fanart was in order. So I give you Keith ruminating over his damaged sword! Or someone who happens to be a Bastian, I am not really certain. I have a problem with the translation of faces to my own style of drawing (I can’t call it art really. It is too crude)

Image
The medium is pen and pencil, because I fail at coloring.

I know, I know, Keith’s sword doesn’t look like that, he doesn’t have a knife, and he doesn’t wear any maile, but I just needed to make some changes. I mean come on, Keith deserves some maile. Maile saves lives people! He shouldn’t be fighting unarmored like that (Well, partially unarmored. He still has those pauldrons, his gorget, and his half-helm. Come to think of it, his head and shoulders region is already pretty well protected) Besides, is it really that much of a stretch to picture Keith picking up some chain on his travels? He probably doesn’t have leg maile though, it’s too heavy to just cart around with him. And it chafes in very sensitive areas.

I changed the sword because, well, I did some research on falchions (That’s the type of sword Keith seems to wield. You know, Large and flat cutting edge with a negligible point. Primarily use for chops and swing. Typically had no cross guard. That sort of sword) And I found that most of them were curved like that, it puts more weight in the blade for a more devastating chop, like a machete. Still though, I messed up on it, so it isn’t even a historically accurate shape anymore.

As for the knife, Keith should really invest in a shield or an accompanying weapon, they really help! Sooner or later some ones going to come at him with a sword and shield combo and he is going to be screwed if all he has is that little Falchion.

Hmmm… That was a bit long… Ah well (Tell me, can you tell that I hang around the ARMA website?)

The head looks a little small.

That's really the only thing I can see wrong, but I'm not an expert by FAR.

I see what you mean. His shoulders are actually smaller, but i think the pauldrons give him thicker shoulders. Though I can't be certain.

But I'm pretty sure it's the pauldrons

Ahem. Short & sweet time.
Head is definitely too small.
Ears should come out higher on the head.
The tail should come out lower.
I was never a fan of huge eyes, but I suppose that's personal preference.
Other than that, it's very nice.

Thanks for the help. I have attempted to work on those issues.

General consensus places most of my failure around keith's head. (I.e. It was too small, eyes too big, ears off center) So I've taken the liberty of drawing his head again. Also, there is a tiny Sketchy/naked Keith at the bottom. Is the Tail position corect? I imagine it would protrude from the base of the Spine

Lastly, have you ever had a really bad idae that you just needed to share with everyone? Well her you go. It's Feudalisim! from the makers of Totalinarism!

Hehee...the Feudalism!© "advertisement" is gold ^_^ And I really like how you draw Keith. I think it's interesting to see popular characters depicted in another person's style, and Keith translates very well to yours.

The second head looks much better than the first, though I didn't see much of a problem with the first head's size given the proportions of your version of Keith. You seem to take a more realistic (if you can even apply that word to an anthro) approach to his dimensions (i.e. 7-7.5 heads tall for the average adult figure, not taking into account the digitigrade legs ;) ), so a smaller head is appropriate. And I got the tail position wrong in my own Keith drawing (and was promptly notified ^_^'), so I can sympathize with you there. It looks good now :)

I really like your work. There's a lot of humor in both your style and your content. Post more art! ^x^

Aww... That just warms my cold black heart.

In all seriousness though, I appreciate it. But enough stalling, How about some doodles. (literally doodles. I managed to make a few scratchings at work)

Image
You think I only did this for Cheesecake don't you? Well you're wrong. See, I wanted to make a Gladiator sort of character, and since I adore strong women (Both physically and mentally. Though almost entirely mentally when I think about it) I decided it would be a woman. But in Gladitorial matches the point is to have as much blood as possible showing. This fact led to the skimpy outfit. If I wanted complete historical accuracy though, she probably would be topless.

Her proportions are pretty bad, but I was tired and I was suposed to be working, so that's the best you're going to get

I like to call her Scarlet

Image
This… Well this is just an extravagantly bad pun.

Image
And then I have this little fellow with the knife and the funky eye here. I'm not sure what I can use it for, but for some reason it just sticks with me

Aaaand that's all I've got.

It's all pretty good, I'd say, but then I suck at sketching. Suck hard.
I still don't quite like your style of eyes, but then that's just my personal taste kicking in.

You've got a good sense of humor to boot; keep it up ^-ˆ-^

Well thanks! I suppose the eyes are pretty cartoony though, expesially when juxtiposed with the rest of the body

Yeah... But the author of Concerned is thinking about making another comic about Team fortress 2. It might be called 1 fort.

He has a blog for it somewhere...

[EDIT: It seems this post and the post above tend to merge together. Now I wouldn't mind that except for it sends my thread back to the 24th. maybe I'm just a stickler for it, but that annoys the hell out of me]

ARRRGHH! I’ve gone completely insane! And I blame that little guy with the knife! [censored] him. [censored] him in hell forever (/reference)

Seriously. That little idiot has sparked an Idea in my head. Nay an entire universe. The implications of it are staggering, and God Damnit if I don’t love it.

There is a quote by someone (Arthur C. Clarke) that says "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

But the corollary is also true: "Any sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology' And that has been just eating at me. It want's to take physical shape and I just can't stop myself.

It's like cyberpunk except made with magic. It's Magipunk.

True, the concept isn’t original. M4 Metrophor has done it, and done it well (http://metrophor.org/) but I never gave it much thought before. And now it’s gnawing at the side of my brain like an angry Jackal, and I can’t stop it. I need to do something with it.

So I did some drawings, starting from that fool with the knife.

And then I did a massive sketch. It’s crooked, but I didn’t do that on purpose. The entire thing just seemed to get away from me. I plan it ink it later.

Image

And then, I drew a bag full of headcrabs and the consequences thereof

You need to read the rules about double posting and realize you are getting off easy with your posts being merged rather than just deleted.

Gordon Furman is made of win.

This reminds Kumatsu that he needs to make a Seal of Approval JPEG
