Just got a new (original) Xbox for christmas and was obviously thrilled.

Problem is, now that I've got it back home, I can't get it to work. The box and the cables that came with it are fine (I used the same connections as my grandfather's xbox and started working on stuff)

I think the problem is the RCA jack on the back of my VCR. (and yes I put it on the 'line in' jacks) I had the same problem with my N64 when I inherited the VCR but my gradfather gave me an adapter that spliced the line from the N64 to the Co-ax cable on the back of my TV. That cable is fine (both the adapter bit and the co-ax proper) since I can watch tapes on the thing and a seconds co-ax cable also works but won't take a signal from either the N64 or the Xbox.

Nor do either set of RCA cables on another VCR and neither of the TV's in my room have the right jacks.

Any thoughts, ideas that might help?

(BTW portable DVD players with an RCA adapter are awsome, but the tiny screen make it almost painful to do anything on....)

Why do you have a VCR? x_x

If no one responds to this, I'll ask my boyfriend. He does tech support.

It's been a looong time since I jerry-rigged one of those systems, I do not miss it...

All I can think is that the adapter must have some kind of issue.
Try a newer one?
