I think it's focusing on the trivial things in life, instead of trying to do things important.

I think it's the fact that nothing we do in our lifetime is ever really going to have any impact on any of the serious issues that might get mentioned in this thread.

Yay pessimism.

One of the things I feel very strongly for is the starvation problem in Africa. Specifically, the fact that GM food could be feeding starving children, yet all the pompous, overfed bureaucrats are afraid of something that already in 60% of their food.

The universe will either expand to the point of no matter, or shrink into another big bang. either way our lives are meaningless.

Whether the 'Equal rights, gay rights rant.' topic is going to explode before it gets locked. Matter of time.

That Fort Lewis Washington alone has lost several thousands of young--and I'm talking 21, 22, 23, that range--soldiers in Iraq since the war began. But hey, at least war in general is a pretty sure-fire solution to the overpopulation problem.

Well if you think that way then you won't.

Anyway, getting our priorities mxed up. Foreign policy or environmental concerns?

These aren't mutually exclusive... though men in washington can't seem to multi-task for some reason...

There are more serious issues out there than I can coherently mention at the moment.

But apathy and helplessness are at the top.

If one feels powerless, then one is. If one feels powerful, then nothing will stand in your way.

Trolling post removed. Do not post in an offensive manner about sensitive topics. ~Yash

My appologies if it was offensive. Certainly it wasn't aimed at anyone on the site, and not intended to be trolling at all.

*edit*

I guess I better clarify so people dont think I was trying to offend anyone. I copy/pasted a letter I wrote someone I met offbase in Missouri, who happened to be an anti-gay fanatic. Well, I dont like people who discriminate against people because of their sexuality. It just doesn't make sense, I don't understand why they care what two people who have nothing to do with them are doing behind closed doors.

But anyway, if the letter was offensive then my appologies in the sincerest.

The fact that nothing seems to really matter anymore. The fact that when we die very few will actually remember us. Grains of sand in the wind people!!! IN THE FREAKIN WIND!

That's either really emo/nihilistic, or sadly true.

My buddy found a solution to that, just go doing something awesome. Like trying to jump a yacht over six other yachts. Hard to forget something like that.

Seriously, though, I don't think it's important what kind of mark we leave on the world- it doesn't care who lives and who doesn't. I suppose the only mark we leave is the one we leave on those who know us, and what better mark than to be known as a loving, giving individual. Spending your days on yourself is more or less pointless, it won't help you after you pass away. But spending your life for others is where you can truly find purpose, is how you can impact their world.

Just my two cents.
