Has anyone else got the Red Ring of Death when you turn on your xbox 360? It is when the green circle on the on/off switch turns red and your 360 sead to call customer service.

I heard that the towel trick will help your 360. Luckily, I haven't had any problems with it so far.

I actually got it two times. One when I first turned it on and I exchanged the system for a new one. Also I got it when I put mt hard drive in on the new system.

While I didn't personally get the RRoD on my 360, my brother's did and I was the one who had to deal with it because he is completely inept. The process of sending it in was rather painless, just registered the machine on their support site and requested a repair online. The box showed up in 3-4 days and off it went. It hasn't come back yet as far as I am aware, but I left my 360 at home with my brother since the semester is wrapping up and I have a lot of work I need to get done.

Personally I think the stories about 360s always malfunctioning to be exaggerated (not to say some people don't just get a real lemon of a system). I know about a dozen people who have 360s and only one of them has had a problem with it and that was likely because he sticks the thing in what is essentially a drawer in his entertainment center. Besides I don’t really see what the big deal is about losing it for a couple weeks, you don’t have to pay anything and they do repair or replace it. Maybe that is just because I don’t play it all that much anyway, I’m more of a PC gamer.

I really don't think it's nearly as widespread a problem as some people say. A lot of people just want microsoft to look bad. :P

Maybe... personally I think Nintendo and Microsoft could use a piece of the same humble pie that Sony got.
(oops off-topic)

No never had it, I only have a Wii and a PS3 at my disposal so fortunately for me I don't have to worry about that till someday in the future. (hopefully by the time I can afford another system it'll be fixed for sure)

I had it happen, and a week before Halo 3's release, no doubt. Called Micrsoft and had it replaced a few weeks late.

I have gotten it three times, twice on mine and once on my brothers and it never has been permanant. My brothers didnt work for 3 days and he turned it back on and it worked the red ring was gone.

If you ever get one I recomend wait a few days to send it in it might be temporary.

Doesn't it show the red rings if the video cables are unplugged, or am I thinking of something else?

three is the system error

If you've had it and it went away...It'll come back...It always..comes..back..

I had it, ALOT!One day i got it after playing COD4,turned it off and on it worked, Sometimes it wouldn't and i'd have to wait an hour or so. It would work as long as i didn't turn it off and on with in a a few minutes.

Finally i turned it off for the last time about a week ago and it has yet to come back to me.WHY HATH THOU FORSAKEN ME XBOX JESUS!?!?! WHY!?!?!

Basically if you get it the Connecter device behind the power button his being melted off and it's only a matter of time before it goes out completley...

i miss my Xbox Live time TwT' ;_;
