[Disclaimer: The author of this post in no way wishes to assume or imply that Tom is being lazy and/or doesn't care one way or another about what people think of his comic. This post was posted in the interest of boosting Tom's ranking, thereby allowing people to see his (attractive, depending on your definition of the word) new banner so that it may attract even more readers to what most of us believe the awesomest webcomic ever. The author also wishes to offer his sincerest apologies if he comes of as a ungrateful [censored], or if this is in the wrong thread. Note that the author understands that Tom might be too busy for this sort of rubbish.]

Just as a small note, Last Blood uses the author's decidedly crappy MS Paint storyboards as vote incentives. At the time of this posting, Last Blood is also ranked first on TWC, a thousand points ahead of the nearest competitor.

But maybe Last Blood's just been having a popularity boost with it's whole "we're going to make a movie out of this, hah to all you other webcomics" thing, but the point is nearly every single webcomic on the top ten has incentives in one way or another. Sneak peeks, extra panels, extra art, fan art, fan service, storyboards, wallpapers, whatever. Thus far TwoKinds has been lingering at the fourteenth position, solely by the charity and loyalty of readers. Due to there being no vote incentive whatsoever, many readers might not be interested in voting, leading to the aforementioned situation. A small push in the form of perhaps the original sketch of the latest strip could haul it back into the top ten.

But hell, maybe I'm the only freak who cares about this sort of thing.

You're not the only one.

I think just some ordinary sketches would really do the trick.

From a personal standpoint, adding incentives wouldn't particularly increase my vote count, since I try to get a vote in daily already. However, it would be a nice little bonus, so I picked option 3.

Honestly, the best way to keep my votes consistent would be a VOTE! thread that gets stickied and bumped once a day so the 'New Post' icon reminds me to vote :-P

Tom had vote incentives for a little while I think last year. Guess he didn't have time to draw up new ones all the time.

Would it be possible for him to use the original scans of his comic sketches as incentives? One every update?

Why do you need an incentive to click VOTE one or two times a day?

I'm not saying WE need an incentive. Most of us here would and do vote regardless of that. Vote incentives make it more worthwhile for someone else to vote, simply by triggering their curiosity to see what the incentive looks like. For example, I vote for Last Blood because the storyboards the author uses as incentives are funny to look at and ever offer extra points I might have missed out or didn't make it into the final strip. Without those storyboards, I wouldn't even bother voting for the comic because I feel it's got enough votes as it is, and because it's a waste of time to do so.
