So you're camping the TwoKinds board, checking every three minutes for new posts?

Hey, I'm not criticizing, that's what I do every day at work.

You could try to sneak in a video game or write a fanfic or something, I suppose.

I know what you mean. Try working projection at a theater. Imagine a 10 hour shift of nothing but you and some projectors. Talk about boring. You think you're going crazy? Imagine hearing the Consolidated Movie theme song about...oh....70 times per day. Now do that week after week. The "fun" part of my job is when we get a film brainwrap or the counterweights fail. At least we have something do when things go wrong.

But in my downtime, at least I can draw or listen to music. Since no ones up there, no one cares what I do as long as the projectors are working.

http://www.fas.org/spp/military/program ... g/sbir.htm

That link is what kitten's job is suppouse to be. right now kitten is helping bring up a new squadron which takes lots and lots of time. in fact years. we have to build training and checklists for a system that isn't even up yet.

but when Kitten was working at the sbirs system at her other base. she sat there for 12 -16 hours staring at a monitor as CNN blaired in the back ground all day. watching for something anything. and 95% of the time get nothing at all.

so it's annoying. so when kitten does have to do her job she has nothing to do really and now she has nothing to do. and you sit in a room with 38 other people where only 1 person on your side of the mission or job can go out to use the bathroom or get a snack from the snack bar at a time. there are 15 people in kitten part of the mission so it can get well really uncomfortable too.

So, if I'm correct, the SPIRS program is to create and monitor a series of GEO, HEO, and LEO satellites in order to create a missile detection/prevention and technological informatics system that will simultaneously target and destroy projectiles as well as provide a means for satellite surveillance? Wow, that sounds almost like a modern day NASA Star Wars program. I'm no expert in the field of infrared technology, but will the infrared beams be able to cooperate with ground unit facilities in order to, if needed, shoot down any object deemed a threat? My final question is if the satellites will have any other use than military. Will, in a time of need, the satellites have the ability to be used at a communications link between different parties, or any other use?

Sorry, I'm an engineering nerd, so this stuff in interesting to me. I don't fully understand the SPIRS systematics, so I don't really have a general idea how it is supposed to work, but I guess thats a good thing for civilians not to know. Government technology and all...

What I don't understand is why we don't use a shotgun design using cluster bombs delivered by missile or a horde of tiny missiles. Israel uses shotguns to defend its vehicles and the U.S. is currently paying a contractor to develop an American version, because why shouldn't you funnel money which could go towards a reliable system for our troops now towards the corporation that bankrolled your campaign?

kuuzuryusen. unfortuently I can not answer your questions. I am sorry and wish I could be more helpful in this. the information I have given you all comes from unclassified internet sources.

If this kind of think does interest you i would suggest you try to get a job with Lookhead martin, bowing, or raydeon.

Of course, I didn't realize that any of this would be considered classified, but now its obvious. I tend to get carried away from time to time.

Besides, my major is in chemical engineering, so I won't really have much to do with this particular branch of technology.
