OK, for some reason I can't access the archive for older comics, and links to old comics aren't working for me. Is anyone else having this issue, or is my computer just being a pain?

Me too. Looks like Keenspace (where the archive is located) is currently down. I think it might have been so for a couple days too. Anybody got an inside track as to what's going on over there?

Tom still uses Comic Genesis (Its Comic Gen now, not Keenspace) for the archive. So when they go down (which they have done about -- 5 or 6 times in the past couple of weeks) Tom's Archive goes down with it and doesn't work (along with almost every comic hosted by Comic Gen). The usually aren't down that long but recently whatever has been causing the crash has not been dealt with and either keeps happening or they are slow at getting it back up.

Tom hasn't decided on a new comic system to move to yet, please don't bug him with suggestions because one- it's annoying, 2 he probably has already looked into it and it sucks, 3 it might have an issue with how well it runs under high volume and Tom doesn't want to run something thats a pain and crashes under high volume traffic. Yada yada- yada yada.

However, Tom did approve my backup archive at http://robbiethe1st.ktserv.com/twokinds

The good thing about this, is there is *no* bandwidth limits. It is hosted on Ktem's personal server cluster, with *VERY* good, unlimited internet. The most that alot of people using it would do would be to slow it down just a tad...

Yeah but the index of files is boring - you need to make a cool looking archive.

You could put them into chapters :o . Or it could be something that looks less than a list, something more visual. COLORS !

Can your backup have html on it (I'm very bad with servers and all, but not with html :P), if it can, we could work together to make a really nice looking page of archives. YAY ! *really need to take my ritalin  *

In three words: "Yes, it can." See that "view.php?" That'll reach your computer in the form of HTML, though it's not strictly HTML on his end.

Robbie's a scripter. He throws PHP at more things than I do (my job title is "Internet Application Developer," so it's safe to say I use PHP every day). So it's probably going to be a matter of working out what everyone wants the archive page to look like at its most basic, and then he'll write the script to handle more comics automagically; that way he doesn't have to rewrite the page all the time. Me, I'd probably use Flash with a PHP backend, but I'm notably insane.

I think Robbie's PHP mojo might be stronger than mine, so I'm going to avoid offering advice unless it's solicited. Besides, clever solutions are always more fun to find on your own.

Archive Thumbnails by month :P Drop down menu to jump to chapter and or month color coded for story, filler, Chapter page. And of course a fancy background around the comics that you read through a viewer like the current archive - but better! :P

You know, Sage - totally unrelated, but I so want to hear the music she's dancing to...

In reply to the original question... yeah, been having problems accessing the archived stuff. I originally bookmarked twokinds from one of the archived pages while I was reading the story, tried to access that again and it wouldn't load at all but his main page is fine.

Ooh, I suggest thumbnail pictures from each individual comic.
