Dunno, but I'm not surprised, and I don't mind. Tom's had a lot on his plate recently and thus has to put priority in front of hobbies. Give him a chance to have a private life, why don't you?

The missing updates don't really bother me at all. The lack of announcements can be mildly irritating, though. Being announced beforehand that there won't be any update would be nice for those of us who remain distracted for the rest of the day because we don't get to know whether we will get our webcomic fix or not. :P

I'm sure that if it was 'cause updates were officially being cut Tom would have announced something a couple weeks ago.

It's plausible and understandable for Tom to be super-busy for two Mondays in a row. :X Although, yeah, announcements on missed days are ALWAYS good things... for the fans like myself that keep checking back on update days, haha.

Jeez, has anyone read the news, I feel real bad. He definately deserves a rest and it is very, very important that he be with his family, especially during such a trying time. My mother recently lost a long time friend and boss to cancer. It's painful to feel helpless against such a thing. Tom, you're in our thoughts, don't forget that. Every time an "update" day rolls around I now only wonder how you are fairing. Thanks for the great comic and best of wishes to you and your family.

The news says:
Quote:
Update on Father's Condition

Hello everyone. I'm sorry for the lax updates lately. I know it seems like the only time I ever write in this news box is when I don't have a comic up, and this is the case off and on for the last two weeks as well. I thought I'd update you on the condition of my father, in case you are interested.
My father is not doing well at the moment. He has non-small cell carcinoma. It's a form of lung cancer. It is stage 3, possibly even stage 4, and it's spread to his upper spine. Unfortunately, there is probably not much that can be done to get rid of it, however there are treatments available to slow it down and stop it for a time. My father is currently going through cemotherapy and other radiation treatments. We all hope that these treatments will take away some of the pain he is currently experiencing.

My father has asked that I tell you all that he appreciates all your kind words of support. We are all very thankful for all the words of kindness, prayers, and well-wishes. This is a hard time on everyone in my family, but thanks to all of you, and the support of everyone around us, it's been a little easier. Twokinds may consequency not be faithfully update, as I have decided to put more of my freetime into being with my father and the rest of my family. I hope you understand, and thank you once again.

I'm so sorry Tom. Please spend time with your family, the comic comes second. Your personal life comes first. I'm sending lots of warm, happy thoughts to you and your family.

Thanks for the update.

My Grandma in England recently suffered a collapsed lung from pneumonia (sp?) but, against all odds and a treacheotomy (sp?) she survived and is now (for better or worse) her old self. This is considering that she is 80 years old, lives on her own, and in a pretty big house. Keep up hope, Tom, there's alway a chance.

By all means, Tom, take all the time in the world. Family always comes first. I'm sorry to hear about your father, but I will be praying for him, you, and the rest of your family. I sincerely wish there was more I could do. I am not one to sit idly by when people are suffering. Of course, where I can't do anything, God can do so much more. May he bless you and your family in this time.

umm...
It's dated 4/27/2007, how could it be old news?

Now, redeem yourself and show some respect...

Who reads dates, and text more than once or twice? Usually, after I have seen something once or twice, and unless theres some reason for me to look there again, Ill probly just glance over it... not to mention its at the bottom of the page, so i mean, if you just glance at the comic and notice its the same, you generally wouldn't sit there looking for something different. I personally didn't notice there was a new one until i read this topic.

It doesn't "look the same". It's noticeably longer than the last update. So it wasn't that hard to notice that it wasn't the same annoucement as the previous one. ¬_¬ There is a reason to look there again, to see if there's an update in the annoucement. Duh.
