No -- Flora is the name of a song (or part of a song or something) that Tom heard a long time ago-- thats where Flora came from-- he was inspired by a song and used the name-- like many artist do. The other characters are just common names with a little twist- Trace isnt a very common name but its short and simple.

Tolken thought of names and then created characters to fit them-- but he was a liturature professor, so each Name means a lot in some language...

I choose most of my names because of their size and meaning as well as people with simular names. Shorter names are like Nick names so when characters call them by that name they seem close-- other people only hear them by their nick names so they use them too ^_^

Anyways-- Point is - Tom got the name Flora from a song.

Flora's name comes from a song called "Flora's Secret" by Enya.
Trace Legacy's name comes from a street near where I live, called Legacy Trace.
The Red-Haired Guy's name is the same name as one of my friends.
Karen and Maren's name were inspired by the book Song in the Silence, by Elizabeth Kerner. (my favorite book, btw)
Euchre's name comes from the word euchre, which means to deceive by sly or underhand means; cheat.
Ephemural's name comes from a similar sounding word, that means temperary; short-lived. This is actually the complete opposite of her character, considering she has lived for thousands of years.
Other, less creative names, such as Sythe and Tom, were simply made up on the spot.

actually he can use whatever name it is if he wants even without permission as long as it doesnt represent his friend which is-- shall we say nearly impossible to prove... even a writen agreement would not be legally binding in this case unless the name is extreamely outlandish and can only be connected to this person-- as in a totally original name that no one else in the word has....

Ok I had to join the forums just to add this post. I think the red haired guy's name is Erik. Why do I think this? Go to July 16, 2004 comic and you'll see it's written on his underpants.

At least we know he has a name now. So maybe, just maybe, tt'll eventually be used and he'll no longer be that-red-haired-guy.
