So my dad's old Wah Wah pedal died, and I need a new one. Any recommendations from anyone?

Its a guitar pedal. I've been looking at another crybaby, but its over a hundred and I'm a little strapped for cash. http://www.guitarcenter.com/Dunlop-95Q- ... 1124429.gc

Maybe you could modify a sewing machine pedal...? I've no idea what that things supposed to do other than get the needle running, XD

It is an easier way to juggle between different set distortions.

If I remember right, fast, think of the pedal as one of those cheesy voice changer toys, you run the sound of the guitar through it, alter it ( different ways depending on your settings) and send it to the amp.

(It has been a long time since I messed with any of this stuff so I have no good recommendation for ya Sobe)

So... like a whammy bar for your foot?

I suppose that is a similar idea. Both the whammy bar and the pedal change the sound, the whammy bar does it by increasing and decreasing the string tension ( the analogue way to change sound) the pedal takes and alters the sound digitally. But yes, both are ways to change the sound a bit.

The more you know! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wah-wah_pedal

Not necessarily digitally. Your better distortion pedals are still going to be analog to produce a cleaner, more "pure" sound. They modify the electrical waveform that the guitar produces between the guitar and the amplifier. That doesn't necessarily mean "digital."

Man, this looks like a question for Spike to answer. I'm pretty sure he plays around with that kind of equipment. Too bad he's on minimum access due to school right now...

Personally, I'd save up for the Crybaby, see what bargains you can get at music shops. If there's one thing I've learned, it's to not settle for less when you can get what you want. That's why I have an $800-some Fender Jazz Bass (which I got used, so it was only $500) instead of a $150-or-so Squier.
