Yeah, like the heading says, what the hell is Evagelion. I've seen the series about three times now and I am still lost. :? Here is something I read about the movie, End of Evagelion, and it is really confusing.

"Evangelion finally came to a stunning conclusion in the already classic movie End of Evangelion. When the dust had settled the only humans left were Asuka and Shinji who had been left with the task of recreating the Human Race. Hope Misato taught them about the Birds and the Bees...."

Wait, the whole human race is cut down to two children?! OMG, what the hell?! I am still quite lost here! If somebody has knowledge about Evagelion or the movie, please do inform me! I find this series fasinating (sp?)!

what do you want to know about it?

I want to know everything about! Who Lillith and ADAM is, the angels and the EVAs are! I'm not much of a Christian, well, I'm not Christian period, so I have no idea what any of this means! And most of all, what is the 5th child?!

(Sorry, I am really excited, I love this anime and I can't help but analyze it until I figure out everything!) :shock:

Ok

1) Adam is the first angel, Lillith was never explained.
2) EVAs are clones of Angels, Angels are messengers of God that were sent down to Earth to find Adam so they could bring about the appocolips
3) The 5th child was the 17th angel

Don't even bother trying to understand it. There's nothing to understand. The whole point of the series is the writer chronicling his mental break down. About the only time it DOES make any sense is if you're insane, high or drunk. T_T

So thats why I could understand it and non of my friends could... I need to stop drinking.

I thought the movie was kind of freaky myself.

And the angels were trying to reach Lillith to cause the Apocalypse or whatever. Of course NERV is keeping Lillith so woo to them, not.
And that gets even better when they bring the remains of Adam to Nerv as well. (What episode was that? I forget.)

The movie is definitely rated R for explicit omgwtfbbq.

Whoa! I had no idea the link was so long! @_@ Erm, sorry about that. Anyway, this website is extremely useful, I've found out several things about the series that I didn't understand. When you open that link, go to the blue side bar on the left, there will be a section called "EVA mysteries" click that. Then you will see a link to the real site. At the bottom of the first paragraph, its titled "Ikari Gendo's Ultimate Evagelion FAQs Homepage". That is the website with a huge amount of info on the whole Evagelion anime series and the movie.

I.e. In the last episode showed, which was yesterday, Form of the mind, Form of the man I believe that was episode 20 (erm, man, I sound like such an anime nerd =/), Shinji was decomposed in the LCL, or the blood of Lillith, he was alive somehow, but he still in the EVA. Anyway, he was having crazy visions of Misato, Asuka, and Rei naked, but they trying to comfort him. Where as I believe the angel was toying with his mind, trying to convince him to become one (with Lillith?). I've come to conclude that the angel was trying to send Shinji a message of some sort.

Keidran is right, you do need to deconstruct the anime to actually understand it, but that's the exciting part about! The creator just doesn't give it away, no no no, he makes you think instead.

But still, everyone will have a different view about the anime nonetheless.
And thank you, deconstructing it is exciting, especially if you really do get it. If not, then whats the point of watching great animes like NGE or GiTS or even something technical like Initial D. Understanding it is what makes it special.
