I'm an anime whore, I watch every little piece of anime I can get my hands on, I love the stuff. This is a place where you can discuss the anime that you like and why you like it.

I occasionally purchase Anime DVD's by the cover- no idea what I'm gonna get out the other end. I've bought some stinkers in my time, but also uncovered some real gems.

One that I've not seen mentioned here is Perfect Blue. It's a weird little murder mystery that is told in a very interesting style. More approachable than the average anime (plot makes sense!), and it's got a nice little twist in the end. Think anime Psyco or some other psych thriller and you've got it. About the only thing that threw me is that throughout the show, the main character is lamenting how she needs to become an actress to succeed, abandoning her career as a "pop singer". I mentally replace the term "pop singer", which implies "rock star"/Brittney, etc., to my mind with the term "children's entertainer", which seems to fit the tone of the show better.

I'm a cheap little [censored] with no money so I download fansubs of anime airing in Japan. If it's available in North America I prolly havn't seen it. (The only one I ever saw here I liked was Full-Metal Panic, it was awesome) I watch so many different shows, most of which just started recently, that it's hard to keep track, but my #1 alltime favorite is Naruto, though there are alot more series I like out there. School Rumbles pretty awesome, and the manga is great. DearS was great until it ended a while ago. Funny with a capital P for "perverted." Samurai Seven was cool until it got licensed. My Hime I personally like, and Bleach is an excelent up-and coming series. Of the ones that just started Ah! My Godess, Mahou Sensai Nagami, Jinki Extend and Air are pretty kool. Yup....I'm an anime whore.

Cowboy Bebop / V4
Trigun / V1-8 /w Collector's Box Set
Genocyber / Complete Episode Collection
Devil Hunter Yohko / V1-2
Love Hina / Perfect Collection (Episodes 1-24 and all three movies)
Spirited Away
My Neighbor Totoro
Grappler Baki
Akira / CD&DVD Combo Pack (includes Soundtrack)

It cost quite a bit of money though.

I've seen alot of anime too. Some of my favorites (that come on TV) are Fist of the North Star (even though they completely ruined it), Cowboy Bebop, and Vampire Hunter D.

Wow, outta all of those I like maybe 5. Ever seen Sailor Moon Live Action? mM two friends and Ipissed ourselves laughing at the first episode. God, we just couldn't stop laughing, throughout the entire half-hour, it was that pathetic, but sooooo much fun to make fun of. (The version that we had actually came with full Japanese comercials, and let me tell you, asian Ronald McDonald looks WIERD.

I've watched a surprising number of those on the list, despite the fact that I don't watch stuff available in North America. So, out of all of those which do you actually like? Must leave, Naruto calls.

Hoo, boy, the only anime I need to live is Cowboy Bebop. Absolute perfection. Music, plot, comedy, and a heck of a lot of violence. No other anime I have watched or will watch will ever compare.

However, some other stuff that I have found and enjoyed is the Wolf's Rain series (hurry up and put the rest on DVD! I'm impatient!), and Last Exile. Both are pretty good ways to enjoy anime.

Sailor Moon and DBZ/GT/Whatever are absolutely dead to me.

Cowboy Bebop is overated in my opinion. I've seen better.

Agreed - Fruits Basket is better, CCS is better, GITS SAC is better, -- i could go on with a huge list but its not going to change your mind. It is a good anime but its not the best it just appeals to most Americans and "western" countries more. And Personally -- I hated Wolfs Rain, huge step down for the same studio that created Cowboy Beebop -- they need to hurry up and make up for Wolf's Rain by showing Samurai Champloo on Adult Swim so i can finally finish it... I cant afford to buy it and well - I dont download anime that has been licensed... i gotta look up to see if they are going to show it...

Dragonball's plot was too repetitive. Goku always ends up beating an enemy and a stronger one comes along. It's like that from Dragonball to Dragonball GT.

There may be anime that is better then Cowboy Bebop, in some people's opinions, but it doesn't really matter if someone says it's their favorite anime. Also, telling them that it's overrated is pointless.

I just get annoyed sometimes because it seems whenever I talk to any "anime fan" on the web about anime the first things out of their mouths are Comboy Bebop, Dragonball Z, and Inuyasha (sometimes even sailor moon). I've had people proclaim that anime is their way of life, and yet those three are the first, and most of the time only, ones mentioned. It sends shivers down my spine.

This is why I didn't like your comment. You said people could discuss the anime they like and you started attacking (not violently) someone when they mentioned they liked Cowboy Bebop...

By the way, I'm not trying to start a big arguement.

Dont worry about it - Cowboy Bebop is a great anime but some of us anime fanatics get so tired of hearing people talk about it like its the end all be all of anime
"the only anime I need to live is Cowboy Bebop. Absolute perfection. Music, plot, comedy, and a heck of a lot of violence. No other anime I have watched or will watch will ever compare. "
Perfection is something i never agree with and neither is saying that there will never be something better-- two of those things i really cant stand-- Stating that its overated is more like stating a fact in this particular case ^_^ sometimes we think we need to state this stuff so people wont think- Well thats the end of that-- no reason to watch anything else since this was so perfect...

So it wasnt him saying that he liked Cowboy Bebop that cause this -- it was him saying that there will never be anything better and it was perfect in every aspect-- which as an animation student-- has been embedded in my skull as "The true great sin" -- once you say something is perfect theres no chance for you to see anything beyond that- and as soon as a creator decides his work is perfect - he looses everything his mind held so dear to his hear- you cant possibly make something perfect in the eyes of everyone- so the artist has to be the one to never be happy with with his work and never settle untill its due. And i know for a fact they rarely ever reached that point with Cowboy Beebop- because even i can see the errors in animation in it and ive only been truely studying this for a little over a year.

there -- i have used this place to discuss anime that i like. But maybe i discussed it a bit to much. Sorry i just thought i should get that out of the way before i just blow up later ^_^
