( _ _) Great...

Is this from here on out, or am I screwed for anything I may or may not have on my computer? >___>

The Feddie Gov doesn’t have the time or resources to go after everyone who’s downloading the latest volume of “Torchwood” on BitTorrent, of course–but what they will do under these new laws, and with these new technologies, is to amp up the number of high-profile cases they do prosecute, in order to create a “chilling effect” that will scare people away from the potential of creating their own cultural entertainment through mashups, mixes, and trading media, and back into the model of being passive consumers–which is just how Big Content likes it.

I assume the first part refers to the average person like Kilroy, perhaps, but I'm still curious as to what "high-profile" means. 'cause I don't know.

Hold on. Does the U.S have the rights to investigate and prosecute anyone outside the U.S borders?

If there only going for high profile cases then most people should be fine. Use google to get your music and your probably safe since your not sharing it would be harder to catch...and isnt DPI illigal without a warrent?

No. US laws only effect those living in the US.

So does this mean YouTube's going to be fined hundreds of trillions of dollars for the copywritten work they host? :3

Bah, I don't download music that often anyhow. Movies, even less frequently.

I'm still waiting on my definition of high-profile... Just an estimate?
