This is getting silly.

Seriously? It's obvious that wasn't the intended meaning, and the attempt to play the gender card is making me pretty damn mad. This is the kind of political b.s. I knew was going to start coming from McCain as soon as the RNC wrapped up. Now every criticism about Palin will be "OMG STOP HARASSING THE POOR HOCKEY MOM YOU SEXIST!" :x

Obama's mistake was using that line right after the RNC, where Palin used the "the only difference between a hocky mom and a pitbull is lipstick" line. Everybody remembers that very clearly (it was one of the funnier lines she delivered), and so when Obama made reference to an animal and lipstick it wasn't interpreted particularly positively. I don't think he's sexist for it, but bugger all, that wasn't a very bright comment to drop, and an orator of Obama's skill should have known better.

I don't dispute that his timing is off, but it's such a political cheapshot to take. It's like how Fox pundits were lambasting Obama for stuttering and "being unsure" in an interview with Bill O'Reilly. The same pundits who whined when people gave President Bush a hard time for the numerous oratory mistakes he's made.

If there's one thing I don't like, it's hypocrisy. It's the easiest, fastest, most efficient way to get on my bad side.

Meh, you know when Obama read his speech and saw the lipstick-wearing-pig comment, he grinned and knew people would get pissy.

I'll wager he also knew a statement like that would get headlines, and it wasn't going to change the voter outcome. If you're swayed in your decision on who to vote for by something as minor as that, its time to move to Rhode Island where one vote matters, XD

Kinuki is right though, even if Obama did have horrible timing. The conservatives have been attacking Obama *way* more than the Obama campaign has attacked McCain. Even when Obama does "attack" McCain, it's usually him just saying "McCain doesn't want to do this, and I do, and it will help America more".

What's McCain got to talk about other than morality issues like abortion and attacking Obama? He's not stupid enough to walk around saying "I'm going to give huge tax cuts to the rich, leaving the lower classes to pick up their slack." That is a firm stance of his, give huge tax breaks to the rich - which blatantly ruins the economy over time - but he can only phrase it like "tax breaks for everybody!" so that people wont hate him. Just ignore the fact that Obama would actually give over 90% of the nation *more* of a tax break than McCain, while making the rich greedy [censored] who cut jobs left and right pay their fair share.

So without a lot of issues to talk about, he resorts to saying Obama is wrong on morality issues and how bad of a leader he'll be.

*Edit*

And while I don't like a lot of Obama's stances, at least he hasn't resorted to trying to win the presidency through attack ads, and that counts a lot for me.

That's actually not very true... McCain currently has a slight lead in the opinion polls, but it is within the margin of error (3%) with 2% not knowing how they vote. Chances are if you think "Someone has clinched the race" then its probably a personal bias since it hasn't really panned out yet.

Well I'd have to say that 2 months out and poll lead of less than 10% doesn't quite guarantee the oval office, even 2 weeks out less than 5% doesn't mean anything. In fact in the past the media has predicted the outcome incorrectly, at this point it is all speculation.
