This is like the third time McCain's party has done this...You would think he would have learned by now. My one question to all of you is...why doesn't Foo Fighters make a bigger deal out of this and sue...they could scare other people into not using there music for unauthorized use. I love the Foo Fighters and I'm amazed that they have not sued for this...

Quote:
The Republican Party has courted plenty of trouble with its appropriation of popular songs during the presidential election campaign. Heart’s Nancy Wilson memorably said she felt “completely [censored] over” by Sarah Palin’s use of the band’s “Barracuda,” while Van Halen asked John McCain to stop using their Sammy Hagar-era song “Right Now.”

Now Foo Fighters have stepped into the breach, issuing a statement denouncing McCain’s use of “My Hero” during his campaign. In a preamble to an official statement issued by the band, they talk of McCain using “a number of unauthorized theme songs” during his presidential bid, and mention how no permission was sought from “the band, its management, record label or publisher.”

Here’s the official statement from the band:

"This isn't the first time the McCain campaign has used a song without making any attempt to get approval or permission from the artist. It's frustrating and infuriating that someone who claims to speak for the American people would repeatedly show such little respect for creativity and intellectual property. The saddest thing about this is that 'My Hero' was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential. To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song. We hope that the McCain campaign will do the right thing and stop using our song--and start asking artists' permission in general!"

Lawsuits. The answer to every little [censored] problem in America. Don't like what someone is doing? TAKE THEM TO COURT! IT SOLVES EVERYTHING!

Surely they could just ask McCain to stop.

You are right...Us Americans take people to court way to often...but I just don't like that the Republican party has done this three times now...If it was there first I would have gone ok whatever...but one of my favorate bands...is the THIRD band to be just taken and put in a commercial...the Republican party not carring weather the Foo Fighters WANT to have there song in it. That is why I do not like it. Personally...I think McCain should have asked and the Foo Fighters should go to court if just to scare the Republican party.

Yeah, because when you ask nicely enough, people are always more than happy to stop their illegal actions.

Or they could...ya know just tell em to stop and show their the better person...persons? Seriously I think they'd look better if they just left it at that comment and just told them to stop using their music. They'd most likely stop as continuing to use the music without permission would just end up making em look bad.

Edit: And if they don't stop then they should consider taking a step up. But jumping on the lawsuit first thing is a lil much.

If you read the article that is what they did. Its just getting hard to believe that the Republican party has not learned from the 1st two times... xD

Must've missed that part, well guess if they've tried asking nicely then they have no choice but to take a step up.

"Dude, it would be like, real cool if you could just... you know, put down my TV, take your penis out of my sister, and stop stabbing me. I think of relationship would be at a much better point than. I think at the point we might even be able to have a talk on how we can make this situation benefit both of us."

And wow, and presidential nominee.... XD
Seems like something they could have checked on, you know?
