Yeah, I've heard that it runs on the rule of cool.

"Why are they using kung-fu in a race movie?"
"Who gives a damn! It's awesome!"

I still loved it, XD It was like they were incapable of making anything sucky for less than three seconds, because it was so incredibly overdone.

:D I was all ramped up during the end of the last race, God that was good.

Yeah, I was expecting it to be a lot worse than it was (I'm still never forgiving the Wachowski Bros. for The matrix Reloaded/Revolutions), so I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be pretty fun. It had the spirit of the original source, which so many x to y adaptations never seem to get.

I heard that it was a big flop, not gaining near as much money as it cost to make, something like that. Not that that would make it a bad movie, I suppose, just not a well-advertised one.

I think it tanked in the Box Office, but that's not an indicator of a movie's quality. If you want something to watch that's just pure fun, get Speed Racer. It's surprisingly good!

$440mil to make, and taking in $40mil; somewhere around those lines. Rather unfortunate, considering the praise I'm hearing here.

Are you sure? I've heard that it cost about $120 million to make and grossed about $95 million worldwide. I don't think there's ever been a movie that's cost above $300 million, has there?
