I'll move the topic here since I don't want the rant board to get off-track. That, and I really like this stuff, XD

We had our monthly minion meeting at Hollywood Video today, and rather than having the normal updates and half-hour's pay before we go back home at eight in the morning, we got a bit extra.

Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft are apparently trying to boost their sales for this upcoming holiday season by decking out its employees in gaming merchandise. I'm not a *huge* fan of half of the titles that sponsored some of the gear, but I figure it's free, nobody else has it, and it's mine. :)

Manager brought in a big cardboard box loaded with this stuff, of which we just grabbed what we wanted. There were some weird odds and ends like pens and console skins (neither of which I wanted since I have too many pens and no desire to maul my Wii with a giant sticker), and there was also some decent swag.

Managed to grab myself a Wii Fit baseball hat, Soul Calibur IV t-shirt, Gears of War dog tags and this pin-thing I'll never wear, and a few other odds and ends like monitor shammies, and some stopwatch I accidentally grabbed. It's a Nyko product, so suppose that *counts* as gaming merch. Still... a stopwatch? Oh well, free.

^_^ I have photoz!

:P The shirt I could do without. I'm not a huge Soul Caliber fan. Games with that play style just don't work for me. But I'll probably wear it as a spare work shirt, since it's an advertisement for product we carry.

I don't play Gears of War either, but hey, I might use the dog tags for fun, :)

We had the same kind of deal at the movie theater where I used to work. After a few years, I ended up with so much useless junk lying around. I had dozens of buttons (from just about every movie, too), key chains. sweatshirts and jackets, and my personal favorite, a 5 ft tall cardboard replica of Willie Wanka's hat (don't judge me).

Oh, and the movie posters. Oh the movie posters. Working in projection, I had access to all of them the moment the movie was taken down. Transformers, The Island, War of the Worlds, Stealth, Live Free or Die Hard, and many others (actually, about 30 or 40 others) now sit in the bottom of my closet.

Holy man, XD We don't very often get this kind of stuff-- well, we never do, this is a first for me. But the cardboard stands of various movie characters we set around the store, those usually get dibbed on pretty early. ^^ We even surprised our regional manager by taking the huge 7'x5' window sticker for the GTA:IV and re-adhering it to our office door. So rather than a big purple door, we've got Niko's portrait staring out at the sales floor, :)

The office of our GM (the head of all the managers) had an office like that. It was so lined with movie posters, you couldn't see any of the original walls, or even the ceiling. It was actually pretty creepy.

We've got the window sticky for "Before the Devil Knows Your Dead" in our employee bathroom, so talk about creepy, o_o

If you've ever been to a Hollywood Video, you kind of know how ugly the interior is. Cheap purple or green paint is what's used on the walls. And I don't think they used primer for our building - the structure's a rental - so it's beginning to peel and chip by the doorways. The posters different, but better than ugly doorishness.

You know all those college-esque movie posters, the ones with cheerleaders/exchange students/hot chicks on it? Well, we have a (roughly) 3x5 poster hanging in the projection office. And some of the guys there are...different. They've replaced all the unknown actors with Will Smith movie heads, Larry the Cable Guy, etc. And the hot Cheerleader? Replaced her face with King Kong, made the skirt movable, and put the Scream face under it. I usually stayed out of the office on my shift.

The thing is I'm just not a fan of GoW, so the pin's going in my junk drawer. The only pin I wear is the kiwi bird one my sister bought me while she was in California, usually to special occasions.

Oh, I just can't fill out any of those dresses the way I want. XD

I couldn't see having a pin in a hat, though. It's got a metal cap on the opposite side to keep it in place, so that pressing against my skull would get annoying really fast.
