This is for the scariest thing that's happened to you in a video game. It could be a boss fight, a scripted event, an enemy, or just some unscripted thing that scared the [censored] out of you

__________
In RE4, running from the first chainsaw guy with no ammo left. I was running around with this crazed bag-wearing chainsaw guy three feet behind me, and one hit from him and I would be dead.
___________
When I was 8 or 9, I was playing Metroid Prime, and I was in that snow area. I was just walking forward, and then I turned to the side and saw one of those small, blue ice reptiles right in front of me, it's mouth open half a foot from my face.
_____________
Another RE4, when you kick down the gate, and then walk forward to the switch. Then that wolverine guy breaks free of the wall, and I jumped five feet in the air (not in the game, obviously).
___________

That's all I got at the moment. I'm sorry if someone has made this kind of topic before, but I looked up to page six in the gaming forum and didn't find anything.

___________
Edit: Ooh, one RE3 moment. After you pass by that police car that blocks the road at least five times, you pass it again and it explodes without warning, and a flaming zombie comes out and tries to kill you, engulfed in flame the whole time.
________________
One more RE4 one, when that guy leaps out of the oven and tries to strangle you while he's on fire, that scared the hell out of me.
____________________
This time, one last RE4 moment. When you face the first regenerator, hear the raspy breathing, shoot it's face off just to see it grow back, shoot it's legs off and see it hit the ground, and then it suddenly jumps at you, eating away at you with it's now-extended mouth and teeth. Also when you face the first red spiked regenerator, and it grabs you over to it and hugs you, the elongated spikes piercing through you

In Killer 7, me and my friends were playing, me on the controller, and the scary laugh was happening and I waited for the thing to appear. A friend convinced me it must have spawned behind me. I turned around and waited for a time then, giving up on that I turned around in time for me to see the Smile just before the damn thing exploded right in my face.

Feh, you kids and your lame games. Resident Evil 1 had much better shock value than 4. The dogs jumping through the windows in the second hallway made just about everyone jump. And Silent Hill 1 will always be one of the scariest games.

Dude, I'm fourteen. The only way I can even get my hands on RE1 is renting that redone version, and I just don't think the control scheme is worth it.

Most game stores in my area don't really care about age.

No, I mean I'm not old enough to have had a system that has RE1, I have a Gamecube, a wii, and a PS2, and quite honestly I don't think the great horror is worth having to use "tank" controls for the GC remake.

Condemned gave me plenty of jumps when I first played it.

Silent Hill 4 scared the ever loving crap out of me. Silent Hill 1 is intense playing 10 in. away from a 17'' moniter with headphones on in the dark at like midnight. The death trap when you take the dagger in Nowhere at the end, you know what I'm talking about, scared the crap out of me when the fridge doors busted open. Then I found out I couldn't fight out of it.

Scariest moment? One of the biggest competitors is the Bathtub scene in eternal darkness. If you've played it, you know what I speak of. If not, DO NOT look it up on you tube, Its so much scarier when you're actually playing.
What else...
Dogs through windows (RE1)
Chase scene (Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth)
Resident Evil 3, most of the parts where you have to run from nemesis

I don't play "scary" games...not since Quake II, really...

But my most "EEK!" moment was actually playing "The Longest Journey", an adventure game! There's a part of the game where an alternate reality begins seeping into the "real world", but it's not a blatant kind of change. You'll be walking, and pass a statue, and just after you pass it, out of the corner of your eye, the statue would change into this monster that is staring at YOU (not your character, but YOU), but just for a moment - by the time you look at the statue, it has changed back, but you spend the rest of the night thinking, "I SAW that...but I didn't...did I?"...after that happens a few times, you begin looking behind you at every little noise, real or imagined...

I didn't sleep well for a week after that...
XD

I remember playing the first Ecco the Dolphin game when I was about 5 or so... for some reason I can't really understand right now, I really got scared and had nightmares about the game. Maybe it was the combined effects from playing after seeing Jaws, iunno, but I'm paranoid about sharks now. :|

Other than that, I nearly crapped my pants when I first played through Alien versus Predator without being the Alien. :x
