So there's this game called Depths Of Peril which is a PC or Mac hack-and-slash game, roughly like Diablo except it adds a very interesting strategic element. You start in a town as the head of a barbarian faction, and there are up to six other factions. You have to do the usual explore/quest things for the usual reasons, but you also have to do the diplomacy thing with the other factions.

AND it has Keidren :-) -- check out these screenshots to see what Trace'll be up against if they go to the Tiger lands:

I think the next time I'll create a Mage and name him Trace, and call my faction the Templars. The game plays quickly, you can win in only a few hours (at least I did on the lowest level). There is quite a bit of depth to the story, which you discover slowly as you discover books.

Come to think about it, it's a very moddable game (all the text, images, etc. can be changed) so it's possible (with an arbitrarily large amount of work :-) ) that someone could build a "TwoKinds: The Video Game" from it.

Quite a good game -- the demo gives you two hours of play, so you can really tell if it's worth it. And it's only $20.

(And just in case anyone is curious, no, I don't have any relation whatsoever to the developer of this game; I just like it enough to (A) pay for it and (B) play it).

I made a Twokinds RP map a while back for Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos.

Me 'n' my buds had fun with the tiger-skinned peoples.

I have to say, this looks like an interesting game.
I also have to say, just because they're anthropomorphic doesn't necessarily make them Keidran. I believe that that name is just something that Tom came up with so he wouldn't have to call them 'furries' in his comic. Unless that's what they're called in the game, in which case someone 'borrowed' the name from someone else...

@Rekats: Awwwwww, comon, that's not true. Keidran was pretty creative, I think. It is Tom's word, they're not called that in the game. Obviously, Tom has no problem with furries (and we will convert him one day, mark my words), so I doubt he'd go out of his way to avoid something like that. Besides, having them be called "furries" by the humans (like whites used to call blacks "niggers") would make more sense. He obviously just wanted to be creative, and I just gave him an excuse to deny your statement whether it was true or not, so ha.

@ Garrett: What I was trying to say was, Tom didn't want to sound generic by using the word furries, which is overused, I think. And I wasn't knocking Tom's creativity, either; he was just killing two birds with one grenade. And 'Yes' to your "Whites used to call blacks" statement. Now that I think of it, it would make more sense. But this is a discussion for the comic board.

It would make an interesting topic, wouldn't it? Offensive on every concievable level, and possibly seven inconceivable ones, but interesting nonetheless. |D

:/

Keidran is terminology. Like said before, furry has a double meaning.

the insulting one, "Furry-suited freak"
and the thing. "Anthropomorphic animal."

Keidran just shortens it to a single meaning.

A meaning that Tom invented (quite creatively, as Garrett said) that we can use within the forums, but not one we can use effectively in real life.
Let's, ah, return to the topic, please?

Um, yeah, no. Furry can't be used as an insulting term. Ever. It's like trying to use the word "Okay" as a threat. No matter how many A's you put before the Y, there's just no way it's happening. Furry has two meanings, yes, but neither are insulting. One is an anthropomorphic animal, and the other is a member of the fandom (which I actually stated earlier today, so you should know that already). Seriously, where did you get that idea? :|

And the way you phrase the rest of your post, it sounds like you're saying Keidran is another word for "furry", and it isn't. It's the name of the race that Tom created for his webcomic, not a word to be used in everyday language to reffer to furries.

It can be used offensively.

:|

I'll just leave it at the narrowing it down.

I'm already on bad terms with you guys.

No, we're going to continue this argument until you admit I'm right, BECAUSE THAT'S HOW IT F***ING WORKS.

On a more serious note, It can NOT be used offensively. It's just impossible. You can use it in an insulting sentence, but the word "furry" isn't and never was and never will be an insult. It's like calling someone gay. It's not an insult, and can't be used as one. I can't imagine how on earth you can possibly picture furry being an insult, unless you yourself are anti-furry. I know you're not, so it bothers me that someone could say you're furry and you might be offended. It doesn't make any sense at all. Furry can't even be used as an adjective to enhance an insult, because it won't do its job. It's the actual term for a member of the furry fandom, and is aften used to describe mammalian anthropomorphic animals as well. My head actually hurts from trying to understand how you, scratch that, ANYONE, could be offended by something like this and still consider themselves furry.

Please, help me understand how your mind works, because I honestly haven't a clue. :?
