Again, I question the likely hood of that based on Halo's current fanbase. It would be like if they made a Halo style Ghost Recon game. However, this is a pointless thing to debate, we'll know in not too long.

The ODST is a good point, I'll concede, however, I still find it difficult to believe they would change formula for a game that has been marked as an expansion to Halo 3.

And honestly, I don't even consider multiplayer. Too many what ifs, especially because it says "ALL NEW..... MULTIPLAYER MAPS" which would seem to suggest maps that function for Halo style play.

I don't think it's the same as making a Halo-style GR game though. Making a game more realistic is far less alienating than making a game less realistic. Simply put, a more realistic game is a more refined universe, and considering the scope of Halo's universe, a little refinement would be a welcome addition.

Or that the old maps and the new both function for both games. In all likelihood, Recon, if it were different, would pretty much be Halo 3, but much more lethal, and with much less tank-flipping. Recon multiplayer would be more inclined to move carefully, with teammates, and not running out into the middle of the map because you can take a dozen shots before even losing your shield. Which brings up the issue of how would you manage a run-and-gun game without the shields. Imagine playing all of Halo 3 with absolutely no shields. It would be impossible for anyone but the insane-crackhead gamers to beat it.

That first point is up to debate, pretty heavy debate at that. It could be said that a less realistic game is far less alienating because it takes 10 shots, not 3, to kill you, ergo giving you a lot better chance for trailer and error, and a lot more forgiving, except for the sheer number of enemies. Again, it is you opinion that a more realistic game is better, so to you it might be a more refined universe while many others disagree. I personally don't think realism heavily affects how deep a universe gets you in. Look at Mass Effect, it was pretty unrealistic but extraordinarily refined.

And again, regardless of what would make sense from a plot based stand point, let's look at it from a monetary standpoint. It would be hard to sell a tactical shooter as Halo to a Halo fan, ergo, it's more likely that as an expansion, it is similar to the original subject matter to a heavy degree.

But my main point remains, expansion, not new game. Therefore, less changes are likely to be made to it. CoD UF added vehicles, ect. They don't remake a game, they add to or lengthen it, so if you sell a Halo 3 expansion, you are selling a game to people who want more Halo 3, not more Ghost Recon type gameplay who would, as I said, be more inclined to buy Ghost Recon than Halo.

From the looks of the trailer, this series will be set in the Halo 3 timeline, but with a sneakier protagonist, this may be the Starcraft:ghost we've been looking for. In the form of Bungie's godly fecal matter.

well, from what's gathered it's regular halo 3 gameplay, but you have to be more picky about the fights you do. that much was posted online by a staff member.
