Ok, so here's an example of my extremely poor luck. Apparently, my coffee cup spilled onto my DS at some point without my noticing, and I found it sitting in a small pool of coffee. I wiped it off as best I could, but it appears some soaked into the edge of the DS, between the white and the transparent plastic running along the edge of the clamshell area, highlighted in the picture below:

Is there any way to clean it out? It looks horrible right now, with light brown colour soaked into that edge. I don't know how to remove it. I'd really love some advice.

Have you tried rubbing alcohol and qtips? Vinegar's how you usually take out coffee stains on coffee cups and the like, but I'd be a little hesitant to put vinegar on it. Just a little -- I might give it a shot if rubbing alcohol didn't work.

Q-tips definitely do the job there, though I'm unsure about alcohol. It evaporates quickly but man, you get that on the wrong part... I'd go with water. Very little water, just enough to dampen the tip.

I have done similar with diaper wipes and a tooth pick if that helps any.

Start with water and work up to vinegar and rubbing alcohol and such. Always use very little fluid to do it. Be careful, take you time, and if all else fails, find someone tech savvy to do it for you =)

The reason I suggest alcohol is because it's unlikely to short anything. Additionally, as FastChapter notes, it's got a very low boiling point, so it'll evaporate very quickly. Water can potentially short components if it penetrates the case, especially since you can't guarantee they don't still hold charge somewhere in there. If you want to use water, use distilled water -- it should be less likely to short components than tap water.
