I've decided to do a retelling of Earthbound cause I'm bored, I love the game, and I think it is a good idea. I hope you all dont think this is bad and a horrible retelling of Earthbound. Or you dont like it. But anyways heres chapter 1. Let the record show that I am using Starmen.net's Earthbound Walkthrough Scene Names for chapter names. All credit for names go to them.

Chapter 1 - A Rude Awakening

The year is 199X. In the small town of Onett there is a boy. This boy does not know it yet but he will go on an adventure like no other. This boys name is Ness and as he sleeps soundly in his bed, something strange happens outside. A rather large noise that came from outside woke him up. Curiosity getting the better of him he opened his door to the hallway of his house. As he walked to the stairwell he noticed the door to his sister's room was open. He shuffled sleepily down the stairs to the large living room.
In the living room he encountered his mother who shared his curiosity about the loud noise. She knew even if she told him not to, he would sneak out to discover the source of the noise. But before he could place his hand on the doorknob his mother told him to change his clothes. Noticing he was still in his pajamas he blushed and rushed back upstairs to change. Once he was ready he stepped outside of his room and decided to pay a visit to his sister. In her room he found his cracked baseball bat that he left there the day before.
Taking the bat in hand he rushed down the stairs and out the door. A rather small mountain that had a spiral path up it lied to the west. Noticing an eerie light at the top of the mountain he decided to start his trek up it. But as he started west he noticed police with barriers to the south. Walking up to them they explained the situation to him.

"Theres some sort of meteor or something up on the mountain," Said one of the cops. "We're blocking off some places for safety reasons."

Ness understood but nonetheless continued west and up the mountain. On his way he passed Lier X, a distant er-aquantince. He ignored him and continued up, eventually coming across a police barrier and his neighbor Pokey bothering the police there. Ness tapped Pokey on the shoulder to tell him that he was there. Pokey turned and told Ness to go home because he was annoying the police. Of course it was the other way around but he still went home and back to bed.
Later that night Ness wakes to the sound of knocking at the door. He again goes downstairs to find his mother, annoyed at the sound. She asked him to find out who was at the door and being a nice son he did. But he only reached for the doorknob when Pokey burst through the door in a state of panic.

"Ness!" He yelped. "Picky went up the mountain and didnt come back! If he doesnt come back Mom and Dad will be real mad! Help me out!"

Picky was Pokey's nicer and braver brother who was younger than Pokey. Ness hesitantly agreed and got dressed before coming downstairs again to go back out to the mountain. But before he left his mom suggested taking his dog King with him. King wasnt exactly an experienced fighter but was better than nothing. They all went outside and headed to the mountain. About halfway up they ran into a runaway dog that bit Ness hard. Self defensively he whacked the dog with his bat as hard as he could, making it yelp and run back down the mountain.
They arrived at the top to find the barriers gone and Picky napping near the glowing meteor. Pokey poked Picky until he woke up and stood up rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Suddenly a large beam of light emmited from the meteor making King run away of being scared. A small fly comes out of the light making the light retract. Despite being a fly he took no time in hesitating to tell his tale.

"I am Buzz Buzz," he said. "I come from ten years into the future. The world is charred and barren in the future because of Giygas. Giygas is an evil entity that destroyed the world. There is a prophecy that foretells of three boys and a girl will defeat Giygas and save the world. I believe you, Ness, are one of those four."

Ness had trouble wrapping his head around all that was happening but accepted it for a loss of something better to say. Buzz Buzz told them they first had to go back home so that he could give them something important. They rushed back down the mountain eager to see what it was that Buzz Buzz wanted to show them. But just at the bottom a flash of light emmited and there before them stood a starman. A man from the stars.

"Buzz Buzz, I have come from the future to stomp you," said the starman. "I will stop you for master Giygas. Prepare to die you worthless insect!"

Buzz Buzz quickly enveloped everyone but the starman in an odd shield that reflected psychic powers. The starman released his psychic powers in the form of PSI Fire B. A large mass of fire came towards Ness and his friends. But right before it hit the shield made the fire disappear. Buzz Buzz hit the starman and Ness bashed him with his baseball bat. The starman fell onto a knee and said that Giygas would either way conquer the world before he fell to the ground.
Onward the friends trekked to Pokeys house, only a few feet to the left of Ness' home. Inside they found Pokey and Picky's parents were already home. The father came over and pulled both boys by the ear upstairs for punishment. Meanwhile Buzz Buzz exclaimed he had the all important item for Ness with him. He landed on Pokey's mother's head and began talking when the mother yelped. She thought Buzz Buzz was a dung beetle and smashed his guts out.
With his last action Buzz Buzz handed a strange looking stone to Ness.

"This is the sound stone..." Gasped Buzz Buzz. "Use it to gather the melodies...from the Your Sanctuary locations...these places are all around the world...only then can you stand up to Giygas..."

And with that Buzz Buzz passed on, leaving with Ness an adventure with only one lead, a baseball bat, and hope.
