So, I've been browsing this forum, and I've noticed what amazing feedback people get from other forum goers. I always think that I could use some critique (I just started a new dA, and it's not all that popular, so I'm getting very little feedback right now), and I'm hoping that I'll get some feedback from you guys here.

So, here's just a few things that I've got. (Click the smaller versions to go to the larger version on dA)

Image

I love Zelda. <3 And the fairies are just so much fun to draw. XD

Image

I was trying for a more anime-ish style. Yes, she has no hands. Yes, she has so many layers on I can hardly tell which one's which.

Image

Two characters, Rialla and ~ (from the comic my friend and I are working on). Rialla is part of a race of humans that can only eat raw meat. ~ kinda has a crush on her. X3

Image

The guy brings everything he touches to life, the girl kills everything she touches.

Image

Percy and Jasper. Yes, I know Percy's hand is weird.

So let me explain myself a bit first...

I hardly ever use pencils, and (I believe all) the sketches are done with a ball point pen. For a while, my scanner wasn't working, so a couple pieces (but what does it TASTE like? and merry LINKMAS) were taking with a digital camera. bounce was done in oC1.1, since my tablets decided not to work on my desktop computer (which has PS CS2 on it) and so I had to use my laptop (which only has oC1.1 on it).

That said, any kind of critique would be amazing! Thanks, guys!

I like the first picture the best,

As for critique I'd say the biggest thing I can see off the bat is the dimensions on legs and arms. You have put a lot of effort into the faces and it shows but when it comes to the arms/legs they don't seem to have the proper length or girth for the body type of your character.

Just a thought though keep up the good work!

Thanks. :D

Yeah, I always have a huge problem with bodies in general. XD I always hope that the heads will be good enough that people won't notice >_>' *Lame excuse* But, yeah... Definitely something I need to work on! Thanks for pointing it out ^_^

Looks nice, and I agree with the arm/leg statement.

While it isn't in your art style I'd still suggest what other professionally trained artists have suggested

don't just draw what you see draw the bone structure and musculature underneath the skin so you have a better idea of the definition. I have seen people use this method and with enough practice it works WONDERS are their anatomy related drawings.

How to go about this is another thing entirely since I think self-teaching this method might lead to more problems so /shrug

(figured I'd add a few more words since "draw this better" doesn't really help)

Ahah... 8D

That pointer helps a lot, but, like, you said, self-teaching how to do it would be rough. 8D Everything I know is self taught. I mean, I took art in middle school, and one semester of art my freshman year of high school (but my art teacher drove me crazy and I promptly dropped and never took another art class again XD)

On another note, here's a fully CGed picture I did for my friend's birthday.

Image

Colored entirely with oC1.1. A bit of an overkill with the blur brush, I know. 8D But considering that I've been spoiled with CS2 for about two years, using oC1.1 was a challenge. ^_^'

On the Kymmi one;
It's quite good, but I can't shake the feeling that her left arm isn't right. The shoulder itself should be lower down a bit and her upper arm a little shorter (on the right arm, the sleeve reaches almost to the elbow, but stops about mid-bicep on the left). After that the forearm and hand, while well done, are a bit too large in proportion to the rest of her body.

So, I like everything but the left arm (her left)

Wynni: Try not to be TOO jealous. XD

Sable: Thank you very much for the input! I totally get what you're saying 8D Even when I started sketching the figure (before it was even a body) I was like "This arm is gonna give me one heck of a problem -_-'" And, well, it lived up to that thought. XD

And I think I just over-analyze hands... Like I think too much a fret a lot about them, so they end up wonky (normally they're too small! XD)

Thanks again for the critique!

Um, well, I'll be honest. When I first saw it I thought it was a guy. Then I saw the boobs. Now I'm neither critic nor artist and I'm pretty sure I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I think it may have been something from the shoulders up.

I would actually have to guess that it's the lack of hips. 8D

Or the lack of overly-feminine eyes.

Or the InuYasha-esque hair. (D|)

I dunno if this is a blasphemous double-post or not... >_>' If so, I'll delete it and just edit my last post.

Something I doodled earlier that I really liked. His name is Luey, and he's one of the main characters for a comic a friend and I are hoping to get up in March.

Thanks! :D

I keep trying to get a more traditional anime-look in my art, and Luey is really easy to do it with because of his hair. XD But this is definitely the most anime-y he's been.
