Ok ao I was looking up some new Graphic Tablets for my artwork and I seen one that is beyond belief...its $2,534!!!!!! OMFG!!!!!!

Well anyway, to the point. Some have seen my art sketches and I am currently drawing for a guy for about $5-$10 a pic ($5 for black and white & $10 for color). SO I was wondering If I posted up a sample pic and if you liked it, I was wondering if you would like some request. I am thinking about openening up a paypal for donations.

So...do you think you could help me out here? :(

those are for professionals who make 300-500 dollars per page (based on your post it's comic work, so 22 pages that's 6600-11000 bucks a month)

look for a cheaper one or better yet stick with paper and buy a scanner

I doubt this thread will last long if you only intend to use it for a charity cup / vendoring stand.

Also, wouldn't this be more suitable for the Art section instead of the Ranting section?

Yeah, you really don't need a tablet that expensive. Mine was less than $100, and it does me just fine.

Yea, I have no idea what the heck a graphic tablet is. There is nothing about me inclined towards art at all, in any way, so forgive my ignorance.

But I do have something to contribute. Top of the line, fresh off the assembly line graphic tablet costs may cost upwards of $2000. Adding basic economics into the factor, there's options of things like - getting a lower quality tablet, a used tablet, a lower quality used tablet, or buying a tablet straight from the manufacturer instead of through a middle-man (retail outlets mark up items 100%+ more than the cost they bought them for on a regular basis).

In general, skill-product merchandise like this tablet you're talking about don't scale in quality with price very equally. Take almost anything else in the art world for example. You can by a paint-brush set at a top art retail outlet for upwards of 1k, just for 5 brushes. You can also buy brushes at Wal-mart which will function only the tiniest bit less desirably than the megabucks option.

What I'm really saying is - you're obviously not rich, so why are you looking at the most expensive option of anything in life? You'll live your life constantly depressed if you do that.

Well, what kind of tablet do you have, then? I, personally, would rather settle with a crappy tablet than buy one for as much as you're looking for... But that's just my personal opinion.

I recently replaced my old tablet, only because my old one doesn't work with my new laptop. That, to me, is a good reason to get a new tablet. And I got the cheapest one I could find (Wacom Bamboo Fun).

But good luck with getting money if you stick with the expensive tablet.

I have an old Wacom Tablet that looks like this:

http://images.smalldog.com/hw/wacom_graphire3_6x8.jpg

Except mine is green. It's so old now it's starting to not work xD

Looks like I'ma have to invest 80 dollars to get a good one. I just find it hard to draw and not see what I'm drawing... To look at a screen and draw in a tiny box drives me nuts. If I could see what I was drawing on the tablet and have it copy itself on the screen, it'd be easier x-x

I think mine is so old I got it for 30-40 dollars o_O

Infact, it's this one, but in green:

well, mine is a Genius 9X12. But it doesn't have a screen and the resolution sucks and the programs it came with are horrid! I plan on getting Anime Studio or Manga studio when I get my new tablet. Well....I am getting a pic I did for a guy back so I can scan it and color it. He is actually paying be even more than $10 dollars if I make it look really good. One program I had was good but It costs like 200 bucks!

So I'll show you all some of my artwork when I get the pic back. I think it's one of the best ones I've done, I actually had to pose to get it right!

As for paypal. When I get my book done I'm going to open up a paypal on my website for those who like the story to help me try and get it published but that will be in about a year so...anyway...

If you like my artwork, I will accept request. You don't have to pay me or nothing but if you like them and think I can go further, I will accept donations.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME!!!!!!!!!!....hehe..

actually, I can afford it. But it will take about 15-20 weeks to earn the money just through my job. I don't NEED it I just want a nicer one. I can wait for a long time but if I get it soon, I can do better artwork and finally start my friggin manga comic I've been wanting to make for about 2 years...lol. SO I make around $120.40 each week (Taxes deducted). That will take nearly 20 weeks. That is why I am doing artwork for my friend and he wants over twenty pic done....*Shoots self in head*. That is about 5-10 dollars a pic. SO if I can get twenty pics for about ten dollars that is 200 bucks right there. I just can't wait...that's all...lol

Alright I understand where you're coming from a little more. But now that raises another question -

You're going to have a top brand tablet, and you're still only commissioning for $5-$10 a pic? If your art is worthy of such an expensive tablet, it should be time to expand your price range a little bit =p

I'm paying $200 for a portrait of myself to use in my MMA portfolio (to whore myself out to people and see if they want to sponsor me). It's a professional pic drawn for a professional portfolio, and it's well worth the price tag. You should look into raising your prices a bit more (excluding friends, of course). Average guys like me are willing to shell out good money for good art if it has a purpose. Hell some people don't even need a purpose.

As soon as he is done vasking in the pic I just drew for him, I'll scan it and then color it. I'll post it up here for about a day so I can show you all my work. Hehe, a potential employee, eh? Maybe. I'm not rich though, which brings me to my next point.

Bonuses included (jump pay, woohoo), I earn roughly 1300 biweekly. So $2600 a month. That is really not a lot of money. It evens out because I'm in the military - free housing, almost free food, ect - but my net income yearly is only a little over 30 grand.

So having a job that gives you a maximum of $1000 a month... Just remember, people will buy your work if you're good. So when someone sees your work and asks for a quote on a commission, saying something like $100+ won't actually turn a lot of people off. I'm not anything close to a businessman. I should hope that is obvious, unless you count my work just an exceptionally persuasive form of business. So please take this with a grain of salt. But spending an hour of DA makes it pretty clear your can sell good work for big bucks.
