Ok so, after a few trys I came up with this for a sig. Now it may look like three different pictures, but infact its not. I just didnt colour behind my name sake.

So does that look silly, should I add more of a bg to make it look like one picture, or make the lines behind the words trail off more behind the pic.

Im completely stumped.

As for the lil picture, its a link to the oekaki im co owner to.. I did read the rules on sig pics in the rant board, so is that lil one ok or should i write and link that way. :?

*begs for some help/ideas*

There's plenty of tutorials for sigs on deviantart, just check the tutorial section on the bottom area.

It's preference really....but if Balmung gets ahold of you, be prepared for an earful.

I find tuts to be kinda, how would you say it, common. I like to mess around with things, take suggestions and use them to my advantage.

I just dont like to be sheepish I guess. Oh and Balmung do you play RO by any chance I saw a character with your name on the HR Qro server.

-and yes I will go over the site, altho suggestions are still welcomed. Oh and Bal, I dont suppose you have a good tut for begining pixel artists or say a suggestion for a good animating program, like gif art kinda things...

Suggestion? Add more color. :D At least make the purple/violet splotch vary in hue. Maybe add highlights and shadows...and I'm ranting and I really have no idea what I'm talking about anymore. -.-

I like the pic by the way, it's very cute. XD

Alright, first tip is to brush a background. Leaving it plain and white like that isn't common sig-making procedure. So get yourself a handful of brushes ((DeviantArt has some nice ones here and there)), and create a background layer and brush something that looks pretty in black. Then create a layer above that ((or for me, above the entire piece)), and fill it with a gradient and set the blending mode to color.

Also make a border. Make a layer on top, then Ctrl+a, Edit-->Stroke-->Inside, black, 1px.

Sounds like an idea, I like Fox's sig the way his character comes out of the background. So i'll play around with it some more. -fewf- this is like an art project all on its own. Never wanted it to be this time consuming :p

dunno bout pixel art, but good tutorials has basically anything Adobe. xD
mainly Photoshop and ImageReady. anyways, u dont HAVE to follow tuts exactly. u follow it, but u expand upon it. by that i mean, use different settings, add ur own stuff, and wat not. tuts arent made to be followed exactly, just like how rules are there to be broken.

I'd be happy to teach you how to make pop-out sigs if you want. It's not that hard.

Fox helped explain how to make the picture pop out, the whole transparent background thing. Actually that one has a transparent bg, which is why its white.. um -looses all thought process, starts to drool-

Damn still cant recall what I was going to type.

I'm going to check that site Balmung posted to see if it has what im looking for, im begining to get an idea for a bg.

Oh for layering and the transparent bg, do I just keep the area I want transparent clean.. say at the end just erase everything... hmm -wanders off to the tut-

Just apply some weird filters to your purple background area, and maybe a layer effect to the text, and color in your picture, and away you go :D lol.
