Zao doesn't do too well in school, which is kind of worrisome sense he'd be in kindergarten or something at this age. But then again 2kinds education might work differently. Especially Lyn'knoll, where some of the students could die of old age by the time most earthlings are midway into college or something, my math could be off.

Well, it's good to know that the position I put her in is possible.

Well, judging that Twokinds technology wise seems to be at a renisance level, Zao going to school so early might indicate that Trace and Flora are fabulously wealthy, or terrifyingly powerful. Schools were really rare you know, most kids just learned a trade from their parents or were shipped off to a guild.

Though if that's true, Trace and Flora should try and help him with his school problem. That sh*t's expensive

I admire the amount of research you put into these kinds of things. I really should write stuff like this down before rolling with it. Generally, the school was inspired from an olden time one I saw on a field trip back when I was little.

Not much is known about Orchard Valley, with all the green, I assumed that it was a rural down to earth kinda place, and sort of gave it one of those one room schoolhouses. One, where all the young ones could learn the basics like the three r's or something and eventually move onto more specified (and possibly more expensive) venues of education. Sort of an alternate to home tutoring, although Flora does give Zao lessons in Keidran language. The little hybrid is still pretty new, so there's plenty of time to improve. There's probably still some other stuff I should say, but I gotta go to sleep, feeling woozy.

Edit: Interestingly enough, the society seems to purposely isolates itself from the rest of the world. To the point that they payed off a dragon to keep her hush-hush. That also suggests access to a gold deposit somewhere, or maybe all the people combined whatever gold they brought along with them and gave it Nora. Curious about the economy of such a place, would there be a bigger emphasis on bartering?
Education wise, would people be forced into occupations that the society deems appropriate for the individual's skills, and beneficial to their hidden village? Mind's racing.

Wow, you've posted three new drawings since I last checked here. Guess I've been spending too much time on that "other forum" ^^'

Pretty cool character design for Keith and Natani's son. I like the mottled coat; it really emphasizes his mixed heritage. I've always found hybrid critters fascinating...since the gene combinations vary with each cross, you sometimes end up with offspring that, though essentially the same species, look vastly different from each other (prime examples? Your characters Kanti and Kratos :D).

The interaction between Zao and his aging mother in your last two comics is both heartwarming and tragic. Poor Flora's really starting to show her age -she'd be what, about 17 or 18 by then?- and it's sad to see her without her usual spunk :( The characters' expressions are fantastic as usual, though...I especially like Zao's eager face in the second-to-last panel in Comic #2.

Nya! Sort of an imprinted noise from his mother.

Thank you :) Kratos was really fun to make, but I know that mottled coat's gonna bite me in the bum when I least expect it.
Flora should be around 16 at this point, kind of around the same point Laura is in the current arc. Not ancient, but not all that young anymore either. I wonder how she must feel having a kid, that well. . . Is still a kid.

Nya ha ha!

Here's page 3. My bad on the first panel, there was supposed to be depression lines, but I noticed too late.

Frogs probably can't/don't live in a valley. But from what I gathered on India's Valley of Flowers, snow leopards and bharals can. (I was almost got close to just making something up!) I hope that last panel is coherent enough. Oh, even though he isn't going to be in the next page are there any tips on how I could get Kratos to look more distinguishable in black and white?

This will only end in Zanny antics.

Of this, I approve.

Oh, and I really like how you draw Flora, she's really begining to show her age. That's a good thing!

Yes, yes this will. My personal favorite panels have to be that top third panel, with dreary old Flora, and the one where Zao tunes his own mother out to walk away and engage in his favorite hobby.

I needed some time to see the leopard in the last panel, but I like how you managed to make Flora look just really, really old :D
My favourite panel is the one where Zao imitates the frog. He talks so childish cute :3

Who is that in the water? Kratos?

I'm relieved to know that I'm doing well in displaying Flora's over the hill-ness.

Yeah that's Kratos in the water, thanks to his sister, some bubblegum and a wheelbarrow. . . Don't ask.

END. Not sure if Trace looks like Trace, and the 'Laguzi' thing will be explained. Played around with character voice in the final panels. The nurse might make some future appearances. *headpains*

This is going to be a very awkward conversation, especially if Trace is around to "help" in his woozy state. Zao's still young enough for his parents to lie to him right? :P
