Well, not quite. I have to go to a "Campus Connection" day tomorrow where I get to be shown around and asked whether or not I have any questions (I seriously need a shirt that says, "I do not have any questions. Carry on.") So it'll probably manage to be interesting and boring at the same time, however that works. I also get to write a mathematics aptitude test that I'm not looking forward to (not because it'll be hard, but because I took the practice test and some of the questions were just plain wrong [like one that asked to rearrange a formula, then all of the answers given had an extra variable just thrown in there] )

So if I'm not here much tomorrow, this is why.

So our Sable's going off to college? How about that! What sort of college are you going to Sable? I won't ask you to disclose its location, but what's the size and the campus like?

My advice: come up with a question they won't know the answer to, but they'll feel compelled to find out what it is.

Sounds like what I'm doing this week. Going over to visit a college for the weekend. Either way, I think this could have been put in the coming/going thread. :)

What, Av? Like, 'what's the maximum flight speed of a coconut-laden swallow?'

I couldn't really describe it, because I suck at describing, so here: http://www.lambton.on.ca/
It's not too big, but it's local, and it works just fine for me (low expectations haven't let me down once).

You folks planning to live at the folks, on campus, or off campus by yourselves or with others? I'd really urge you to take the plunge and move out, even if it's just to the dorms. It's good for you!

So, it's sort of a community college of sorts? It's a bit small to be a full-on university, I think... Assuming higher education in Canada is like it is here south of the border.

Interesting... what are you planning on majoring in out of curiosity?

I'm staying with my folks, because I am incredibly cheap, and so are they.
If it were a full on university, I'd have called it a university; there's a pretty noticeable difference, I think, between Colleges and Universities. My brother is the smart one who's going to university, and I'm going to college because I lack the drive to put up with university life and the like. I'm lazy, is what I'm saying, I guess.

I'm not entirely sure how higher education goes in the States, but I would think it's rather similar... only more expensive.

I don't think you could consider what I'm doing "majoring" per say; I'm taking a specific and practically-based course (CPET), but if I had to say, I'd say it's close to chemical engineering, only less severe (what my brother is doing now in 'actual/university' chemical engineering would give me a heart attack).

Heh, I'm heading off pretty soon too. I actually move this friday. :D I'm pretty excited too.

The only thing I'm not looking forward to is getting up at 0630 every morning for AFROTC PT. ;_;

Well, all of you who are off to college, especially those of you who are doing so for the first time, I wish you the best of luck. You're entering into some great times. If high school was good, just wait, college is better. If high school wasn't so good, well, don't worry -- college is way better. Sure, I'm in no hurry to go back, but I do have some really fond memories. Especially those early years, before the professors turned the meat grinder all the way up. :P

Classes start next monday for me, and I don't want summer to be over yet. Oh well, its nice because college basically makes you hang out with people who are most like you (provided you pick a major you're really interested in)
