This is my first rant, so please bear with me in my random brain drainings :)

My Roomate practically woke me up this morning after reading an article about Jack Thompson. I looked at him, shrugged, and tried to sleep again. He then proceeded to show me http://kotaku.com/5010087/judge-says-jack-thompson-guilty-of-misconduct-during-gta-bully-trials

A lot of people hate him, most are gamers because of his stance on violent video games. I will start off by saying that he does get misquoted often, people saying that he wants to Ban all video games. He said, that is not his stance, and does not want to ban all video games; just ones that are violent and are getting in the hands of children. I strongly believe that it is in the parent's jurisdiction to find out what their children are buying and playing and to regulate it; and the Ratings on games help out with that. Where does our Buddy Jack come into this? He believes that Violent video games are teaching children to be killers, assassins, and criminals; and that the game companies are giving kids the tools to learn how. I can say I've been a gamer since I was a kid, and have always played games, including violent shooting games. But when I get frustrated and want to take it out on people, I don't think of who I could really kill, I go kill people Online and my rage is over. How many people are gamers? A lot, way to many to count. And how many of those people have actually "lived" out the fantasies of their games? Not very many, if any. Shootings are things that happen, sadly, and video games are not the culprit. If somebody tomorrow goes, shoots up some tellers at a bank, then says they learned how to do that on a Video Game, I think it is just publicity they are looking for, that's all.

Well, back to the article. I will not go through it, as all of you can read perfectly fine for yourselves, but I think somebody is actually being successful in trying to shut him up! Every time a new game comes out that has some blood or some violence, ol' Jack is up on the podium saying that there's going to be another school shooting! So, I heartfully cheer for the downfall of Jack Thompson and hope that this spiral of pain for him only gets worse.

It's not just gamers who hate him :P my dad thinks he's a "nutter who thinks video games are evil" xD

I think this is fitting, but it would be better if it was Ironic ... like if he was arrested for attempted murder or somin xP

It was bound to happen, yay!

Read about it yesterday from the CAD webcomic's link. Granted, it's a recommendation from a judge not involved in the actual case... I think. Not sure, the link from CAD is sketchy.

Ya know, whenever I read about this guy, I always got this complete idiotic nutter feeling from it.

And the people that actually act out the stuff they see in video games were just as likely to do it before they got the games as after.

And if you do any research at all, you can find studies that show violent crimes have actually dropped (at least in younger people) since the introduction of violent video games.
