Just thought i'd ask.

I own a 1985 Ford XF Falcon Ute, re-engined with a 4.9L 302 Cleaveland V8.

Mostly stock 2005 R1, except for a K&N air filter I put on it. I love K&N. Little tire work was done by the last guy who owned it.

Steering's a little tricky, but it's worth learning.

I drive a '91 Nissan Maxima. It doesn't work too well.. And it gets so hot in there during summer it turns plastic bags to dust and melts jewel cases.

Gas is a real pain too, but you don't get caught in those pesky traffic jams. And as long as you don't get into any fender benders, you should be all right.

Having a car just isn't practical for me. I don't commute to classes -- heck, I live on campus. The only time I would consider having a car is just to get around town and the like, but thats what friends are for. I could go into a long rant about how I don't have to pay gas, or insurance, or repair fees, or... maybe I'll just turn this into a rant later.

Still, I'm just about to upgrade to a Fuji Roubaix RC. That, and various accessories, put it around a $2300 bike.

$2300 for a bike?! That almost how much I paid for my 'bike', and mine goes a little bit faster than peddle-power.

Sometimes I wonder how people get away with selling stuff for prices like that. That bike is a few bits of hollow metal, ball bearings, a small amount of rubber, a chain and some gears. Those items are not worth $2300 even if somebody combines them in such a way as to be a method of transportation. I could probably buy the equivalent amount for less than a couple hundred bucks, so you're really paying 2 grand for someone to assemble it in the form of a bike for you.

This world blows my mind.

Maybe it's made out of magnesium. And then he can use it and some rusty paint cans to make a blow torch to cut into an armored car when a batch of criminals show up at the airstrip he happens to visit. Wait...I'm getting real life confused with an episode of MacGuyver again...
