Hey, I'm starting a webcomic, at some point in the near future, if my artist gets his act together and draws the first comic. :P

Now you're probably thinking, "Great, another comic idea, go advertise somewhere else." but hear me out. I'm not doing this to advertise (much) but more to gain a feel for what people will think of it.

Well, so far, we've got character concepts and a few scripts on paper, which is promising to say the least. (well, from my viewpoint anyway.)

Ok, well plot synopsis.

Basically, thousands of years ago, magic was sealed away from the mortal realm. No-one knows why, but ancient texts make referance to 'power beyond man's control'

However, the seal on magic weakened, and broke, letting winds of raw, randomized magic into the world, in an event known as The Sundering. Virtually overnight, cities crumbled, there was mass panic all over the world... and monsters returned...

Werewolves, Griffons, Dragons... and others of their ilk quickly spread across the world, destroying most of what was left standing after the initial event. In less than a week, civilisation had all but crumbled, and the Golden Age of humanity had fallen.

In this bleak landscape, in the ruins of a city, there is a small group of survivors, thrown together by the chaos.

So yeah, thats all of the plot I'm willing to reveal right now. If The Sundering sounds familiar, than it's probably because it was inspired by Yosh!'s Wierding. However, I'm pretty sure I set the level of damage up a few orders of magnitude. :D

Okay, well, I'm now going to talk about the monsters that are going to be in it. Basically every mythical/legendary creature we can find room for, with a few additions of our own devising:

The Altered: Humans who were heavily affected by the random magic, and were changed by it. Some were lucky, in that they were mostly still human... others weren't so.

Other people: A bit of a cop out, I know, but basically normal people driven insane by the events of The Sundering. Arguably more dangerous than the monsters.

Main Characters (so far):
Richard Kingdom: Even now, a bit of a nerd. The only one of the group who has really studied magic, and a part-time inventor.

Junior: A small guy, with a really short temper. Favours a bladed staff in combat.

Cabala Bob: The only person in the group brave enough to use magic. Tends to prefer using spells that burn things.

Drake: A thief/ninja/pirate/bandit (don't ask...). The most enigmatic of the group. Wears a scarf that obscures most of his face, and an eye patch. Has a strange habit of walking on ceilings.

Kiara: Joins the group early in the story. One of the Altered, she is a cat-girl. Dual wields pistols, and uses her own claws for close quarters.

I could go into more details, such as schools of magic, Locations etc, but this is already ranking as one of the largest posts I've ever written, but I may post those bits of information later.

Kiara was a heavily debated character. First off was whether she should even be a cat-girl, but eventually I was able to talk the others round. It turns out she's going to have tiger markings, (like a few other comic characters people on here will know), which was a bit of a surprise for me. I just told my artist to draw what he thought she should look like, and lo and behold, she had stripes. It must be some universal law.

Anyway, to conclude this inordinatly long post, if there are plot devices and stuff you recognise, chances is are it's because it's been inspired by something else. I'm trying to avoid blatent copying, and at the very least trying to give it an individual spin. Therefore, please don't slate me off as unoriginal. I'm trying my best, honest!

Soo... thoughts?

(edited a bit to make it easier on the eyes.)

So...it's a post-apocalyptic Yosh!/Chisuji kinda thing? Could be interesting...
I'm withholding judgment until we see some art samples...

Hmm, a cat-girl who wields pistols. I'd like to see that. Now imagine what Flora would look like wielding pistols. hehe

Well, I'll try and crack the whip so that my artist gets at least the character concepts scanned in before too long.

Basically, to explain we're working in a team of three. I'm the writer, then we have the artist, and then finally the guy we bounce random ideas off of. It's not the most efficient system in the world, but I'm hoping it'll get the job done.

Any hoo, I'll talk a bit about settings.

Locations in the Sundered Land Webcomic:

Ruined City: Where the bulk of the first start of the story takes place. We haven't placed it anywhere specifically in the world, at the moment at least. Lots of ruined buildings, one of which serves as the groups safe-house.

The Stormburg: The groups Airship. serves as a HQ and a mode of transport. Initially the only one in the world, but the idea soon catches on with other survivors. (Ok, so the whole Airship thing is a blatent rip off of the FF series. I'm including because I think they are awesome)

The Great Sky City of Ark Lar'een: The only thing approaching a modern day city after The Sundering. Kept in the air by magic, and one of the first adopters of the new Airship technology. Encountered by the protagonists, when ironically enough, they nearly crash their airship into it.

That's mostly it so far, at least that we have made definate. A few other locations are in the brainstorming works, but they aren't thought out enough to be mentioned seperatly yet.

Now, it's after 12pm for me, so I'm going to get some rest. Sorry if the post has numerous spelling/grammer errors. It's amazing how tiredness conspires with the typo-demons...
