I am now in Deep Mourning.

I'll have to go on meds when we loose Anne McCaffrey.

He was one of the fathers of hard sci-fi. I still wish I'd been able to get a copy of Sierra's Rama game, though I will admit that the first Rama book (the only one I read to completion) is really pretty dull. (Zero-G cage sex scene notwithstanding. ;))

Oh I know. As will I. Her son just doesn't cut it, as far as my mother and I are concerned. Too many characters, not enough character development.

So talk about him on the other thread.

Great; another good author bites the dust, and Kevin J Anderson is still alive and kicking. Where is justice when you need her?

Still recovering from saving Stephen King's bacon? I dunno. I just know I'm wondering what I'm going to do with myself when the last of the old guard are gone. These are the stories I grew up on, and I really miss that style of craftsmanship.

Look on the bright side: At least we have good, quality TV shows for the young ones to watch in the depravity of books.

...

Oh ye gods, the minds of future generations are doomed.
