How do you imagine the future 20 years from now?

I imagine it either pretty much the same, or drastically changed from WWIII. I'd be more specific but being an unstudied realist I couldn't possibly imagine anything else.

Much like today, in the respect of corrupt politicians. However, we will have an energy shortage due to lack of oil. Social security will be nearly depleted, and the government will decide to raise the tax to get another 10 years out of it (none of which my generation will ever see).

Scientists realize that using ethanol as a fuel is useless. We are burning our food to compete with oil, and we begin to develop solar power cells on a large scale.

College tuition will continue to increase at a ridiculous rate, so degrees will become harder to come by, throwing our economy into a depression.

Can't wait.

The terabyte will be tiny to the average person. More crazy computer-related things.

Post Nucleur War Era-
Were forced to live underground as all the top soil is irradiated. Using what technology we have left we create large underground cities using energy from the heat of the earths core. Creating large eco-domes we re-create sunlight and grow plants...

I just hope it's a place where I can live in peace.

Humanity will finnaly spend to much time on the internet and implode do to much forum chatting and youtube browsing there will be no more orginal video games and Mac will create a computer that will start the destruction of the last remnants humanity that dont use computers till microsoft finnaly fixes their bugs on their system and creates utopia v.1.0 with minor errors in programming.

Science and religion will have more ethical disputes, leading to mass demonstrations by the faithful. Cyber-terrorism will commence on the western world, and biggies like Google, Yahoo and Youtube will be hit. China reaches the peak of its economic strength and remains there for a while. Human rights organizations uncover huge government crackdowns on any sort of dissidence there, but China is already so important to the global economy that no one dares to do anything. Bollywood becomes as big as Hollywood itself, if not bigger, and the movies start to see major action in Europe and America.

Internet access becomes a standard for any family in the world, bio-chips are starting to become mass-produced, the human genome is cracked and cancer is reduced to only one percent of the population, smoking faces a worldwide ban, global warming slows, but doesn't stop, more species of animal extinct, efforts made to clone extinct animals or at least preserve the DNA for future study, mainstream holographic technology past experimental stage, is still too costly and too large to be easily used,

still no aliens.

i am going to go to 2 different radicals here positive and negative (negative first)
the united states' recession turns into a full blown depression making china the largest economy in the world using its no found economic dominance it buys out massive amounts of American army surplus such as tanks subs guns etc Russia undergoes a complete government change when Putin announces that now that the largest economy is down we must band together. Canada's economy stutters at first then falls into a brief recession because American importing is gone the new passage from Russia through to Manitoba becomes clearer and its shipping is tripled thus putting Russia and Canada with stronger trading bonds than what Canada had with the states Russia declares war and its long standing ally china joins Canada having no choice joins as well the all major governments give in within 1 year and within 10 the world has been divided between Russia and china with Canada staying relatively the same

i am not saying these would happen but are merely possible

after a brief American recession a new era of hydrogen cars are ushered in with a government that supports it full all cars in the U.S run on hydrogen in 5 years and am now not reliant on foreign oil after the American government formally apologizes for its involvement in the Iraq war a new era is ushered into the U.S and the world soon follows middle east become one country and all militia have been decommissioned and all terrorist cells destroyed. global warming is halted as well as oil production because the new middle east government has redirected money into solar cells which they in turn sell the power from to the states and other countries. all major pandemics are solved and we have made mars habitable and the atmosphere breathable allowing a whole nother human colony and because of the economic equality all nuclear weapons are disarmed within 2 years and all conventional weapons disarmed in 10 years thus ushering in a utopia
