Today I finished a long sires of books. I was amazed by the ending and it was pretty great. Then I realized that now Im done with the books I was so found of I got nothing else to do. Also the ending didnt seem like something you want "Follow destiny" they say and follow no matter what. What if you have to leave alot of people you befriended and never go back. With the book chain broken there will be no way to see if that person ever sees they're loved ones and friends ever again. Im sorry if this is just a waste of time to you people but I felt like i hade to make this topic.

Wow, where'd you find them? Sounds like a series I'd enjoy, except for the ending. I'm a firm believer in keeping your friends and destiny.

Well I kinda got them from my school library in New York. Finished 4 books but left to Germany. Then I found the last book in the library once again.

Is this a thread for discussing book series, suggesting new ones for you to read, or for discussing destiny?
o.o

I read The Lost Years of Merlin a few year ago, and it was excellent. If you liked this, you may enjoy the Ender's Game series. It's got about 15 books in the universe it's set in, and I loved each and every book. A little sci-fi/psychological stuff, and it's really worth reading.

I know they're not related, but many of my friends who enjoyed one have enjoyed the other.

Sci-Fi Books I'd recommend:

Dune (Frank Herbert) Excellent read. The sequels weren't as good in my eyes (Never got that much into the third books and on), but the first two were great (And the others were still good, just moved on to a later book in this set).

Hyperion (Dan Simmons) A wonderful, wonderful read. It isn't the most kid-friendly, but anyone [15 or older, I'd say] else who reads it will likely enjoy. It's Sci-Fi, however, and all Human. If these type of books aren't what you enjoy to read, I'd say skip it.

Eisenhorn Omnibus (Dan Abnett) Another good read. Not quite as good as Hyperion, but still a decent (And long, which is to be expected from 3 full books and 2 short stories as well) read for the $10-some cost. Somewhat low fantasy, however, and it is also a mostly-human novel.

All I can think of for "Good reads" at this moment.

Oh, and for 'bad' readings:

Anything by Kevin J. Anderson. His style isn't so much as "Bad" as "Contradicts fluff from other novels in the series to allow his characters to make sense" kind of guy.

You need to read hitchhickers guide to the galaxy. It does the following

*Blow up earth in an irony sort of way
* has a guy with two heads and three arms.
* Explains how a towel is the most important thing that a hitchhiker needs to travel through space.

My friend lent it to me and i'm enjoying every minutes of it. :D

Some of my favortie books:

The Jungle: An excellent tale of political and economic corruption and hardship in the early 20th century. Written by Upton Sinclair

The Shannara series: A series of 14 books following the descendandts of a line of kings on numerous world-saving quests. Written by Terry Brooks.

Angels and Demons: A thrilling novel following symbologist Robert Langdon in his race to save the Vatican from the ancient cult of the Illuminati. Written by Dan Brown.

The Halo books: Excellent sci-fi novels following various characters in the Halo universe. Authored by Eric Nylund and Joe Staten.

Anthem: An inspiring novella that follows a nameless man in a tyranical society to freedom of thought and action. Authored by Ayn Rand.

Atlas Shrugged: Epic in scope, this book follows a railroad executive struggling to keep her business running despite the increasingly strict government controls, and all the while, an unknown man is convincing the owners of important businesses to retire and disappear. Ayn Rand's Magnum Opus, and probably one of my favorite novels of all.

I really only have one book I'd recommend.

Animal Farm: A bunch of animals revolt and take over a farm, and the pigs run the joint. A satire on Communism I think... Not that good at analyzing stuffs, but I still like the book.

Oh. Dune too.

My recommendations?

Anything by Isaac Asimov, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Anne McCaffrey, and Mercedes Lackey.

And Disc world novels by Terry Pratchett. All Disc world novels are both entertaining and though provoking.

I especially enjoyed Mercedes' "The Oathbound" series. but "Oathbreakers" gets more than a bit dark in places. The Owl series is especially good, too.
I've also enjoyed her take on Swanlake: "The Black Swan" (girl centric).
Note: The Herald, Oathbound and Black Swan are centered around strong female leads. The Mage Storm and Gryphon trilogies center more around guys.

I think my all time favorite though, is "Tiger Burning Bright". talk about girl power.
