1+1=-1

1+1=0

1+1=0.5

1+1=1

1+1=2

1+1=3 to infinite

There is something behind this. Do you know what it is. and yes they all do make sense depending on what you're refuring it too.

do you know what it is.

Infinente? Infinity.

Hmm. I'm thinking the equal signs could be replaced with greater than/less than on some. so x>3, so the solution set is 3<x<inf.

As for pretty much all the others...wtf, I have no idea.

if ax^2+bx+c=0...
x=-b+/-sqr(b^2-4ac)/2a. use b^2-4ac to determine zeros. if b^2-4ac>0, 2 zeros. if B^2-4ac=0, one zero. if b^2-4ac<0,
if ax^2+bx+c=not 0...
h=-b/2a. vertex=(h,k), and k=f(h), or ah^2+bh+c.
Vertex form: y=a(x-h)^2+k. X and Y can replace each other.
if ax^3+ax^2+cx, use x(ax^2+bx+c), so when you have simplified- let's say, if b=a+c, that you have simplified the parenthesized equation to (ax+c)(x+1), make sure to notate as (x)(ax+c)(x+1), so that the solution set is {0, -c/a, -1}

If anyone remembers algebra, they should know where I'm going with that. I'm done now. Have fun.

Is it that they are all true, but in different contexts? Not that I've worked out all the contexts yet, but maybe someone else can help with that.

And it's "you're" not "your" in your penultimate sentence. Sorry, it just irritates me to see this error so often. Remember if it make sense when you replace the word with "you are" then you should write "you're".

I think the North American pronunciation of these two words must be near identical. That must be the reason for this confusion. I pronounce these two words differently (at least I do when I say them in my head).

Technically "You're" is a contraction of "you are" and "your" is the possessive adjective.

Anywho, back to the question...

I have
1+1=-1 ?
1+1=0 Distance round a circle in units of pi radians
1+1=0.5 ?
1+1=1 logic context (1=true, true or true is true)
1+1=2 normal arithmetic context
1+1=3 to infinity Not sure, but I think there was once a tribe who counted like this: none, one, many. So 1+1 would be many (2 to infinity).

Ok next time please just let me know where I goofed and how to fix it. what you just did I found quite insulting.

You not just analyzed me but all of America and lumped me into the group as if we are all exactly the same.

Not all in fact many Americans get quite annoyed with my use of grammar and misspellings.

You're and your are pronounced exactly the same here though.

And so far not a single person has the right answer or even close to it yet. But they are good answers.

It reminds me of something I saw in an advanced linear algebra class, but I was only sitting in for a day and don't remember any of it other than the fact that the laws of math seemed to have vaporized. Something to do with line graphs and starting at a certain point and having to go back around?

Query: Is the answer rooted in mathematics or is it something more abstract?

Also, I've found that being corrected in an embarrassing fashion is the most efficient way to correct grammar mistakes. I'm still smarting from the last time I used who/whom incorrectly, and I haven't gotten it wrong since.

I would say binary, but I don't think that's right. Hmmm.

Heh, I wouldn't worry about it... Americans are equally as bad with their own grammar as the rest of the world is with it, I find the same mistakes in my own writing often enough, it's not a big problem so long as the meaning is clear.

and yeah, 1+1=-1? is that for i^2 or something? (imaginary # i, being the square root of -1)

are all the equations related in how or where they're used? or are they just various mathematical principals from different levels of math?

About the pronunciation of "you're" and "your," not their views on the world. And they are pronounced the same in North American English, and I know this because I'm North America!

Sorry I really didn't intend to insult you. I've just read back what I wrote and I do sound like a sanctimonious twerp. I wish I had re-read this before I posted and hope I would have phrased it better if I had.
