Ok, so my issue is that I'm trying to set up a new wireless internet connection. I've follow the instructions and it all worked, until it came time to put the disk in the computer and install it. When I try to install it, part way through when it starts gathering information for the router set up, it crashes giving that old Had to shutdown unexpectantly.

Now, I closed all other programs and turned off my firewall for the time, as it said in the manual, but that still didn't help.

The weird thing is, I can connect to the network wirelessly already, I just can't get it set up. Plus, my wireless adapter for my 360 can connect to Live, but not media.

Any advice on how to get this to work?
Oh, and I have A Belkin N Wireless Router.

Windows XP Version 2002, and things do the whole "Unexpectantly shut down" thing but I've never set up wireless with it, so I couldn't tell you if it has.

Okay, if you can connect wirelessly to the network already, what are you trying to do to "set it up?"

-- Note --
I know router folks like to ship CDs with their products, but the things ought to be standalone (Cisco heavy-duty stuff might get a pass on that ;)), so I have never needed to feed the CD to my computer. You should be able to get into your Belkin router at its IP address via a browser and do all the configuration you want, including setting up wireless encryption and all that. I'd recommend you do that with a wired connection to the router, but that's just so that you don't have to reconnect every single time you change something. :P

Junk the CD, then take a Cat5 cable and connect your PC directly to the router if you want to configure it properly.

Just check the manual for default admin username, password and IP-address.
Type the address into the address field of your favorite browser(Safari/Opera/Firefox, it doesn't matter... ) and log in.

you want to set these options:
SSID: Change to something more appropriate than 'Default' or 'CrapSystems'...
Encryption: WPA. No reason for anything weaker unless you play Pokemon wirelessly on your DS which only supports WEP...
Administrator username and password: CHANGE THEM!

Firewall: ON!
uPnP: For [Insert name of preferred deity here]'s sake, disable it if at all possible. There are even Flash trojans out there that can open your firewall through this security hole...

MAC filtering: Who gives a sh!t about this if you use proper encryption?
(Whoever thought this would even be a security feature when you can change the MAC address on any PC?)

And finally, a little bonus tip: I use a Dymo marker(one of the modern ones which prints on the tape, not rushes it) to write down WPA-key, admin username and password and place this sticker under the base.
(I figure that if anyone can get physical access to my router, that's the least of my worries... )
