I havent been able to get a straight answer on this for sure nor can I contact my teacher at the momen due to spring break and construction being done at my school. But I was wondering if anyone knows if a motherboard that runs only SATA 1.5 can work with a hard drive that is SATA 3.0 will the hard drive be backwards compatible? Also the motherboard is a LGA 775 socket. The box nor manual states whether it can run a Duo Core processor it just states "Pentium 4 Processor". Once again a failure on my part. I was wondering if theres a way to tell if it can, I have no means to boot up the motherboard at this time or anything. I have tried looking up the specs for this motherboard online and nothing came up. Any advice would be helpful about these two questions thank you for your time.

Also as a side note I feel stupid as is for overlooking these things since Im normally picky when it comes to looking at items such as these and the one time I decide to be lazy is when it comes to working on something important, all the while thinking itd be easy......

The hard drive will be backwards-compatible. In the case of my new Seagate 7200.11, it was with a jumper. Leave the jumper in, it was SATA 1.5 Gb/s; take the jumper out and it was SATA2 3.0 Gb/s. Can't say about the Core Duo -- I don't run an Intel rig, so I'm not super familiar with their socket sets. A modern AMD system would be -- if the chip fits in the socket, it'll go -- so if that's the case for your motherboard/processor pair, then it ought to still work. You might not get both cores, but I would think the processor would still function. Like I said, I can't say for sure though.

I'd be careful and not just plop it into the socket. Do you have a model number for the processor? You might be able to look it up and find out.
