I like desktops better. Mainly cause I can take them apart to put things in.

I don't know exactly how you would go about upgrading a laptop on your own and buying parts... I've never done that. Laptops are convient, but having a loose mouse, or a wireless mouse, or that little mouse pad thing is a bit too inconvinent in my tastes.

I've tried PDA's.... I couldn't stand it. They're useful for keeping track of things but for surfing the web, or anything really internet related drives me insane.

Desktops are more fun :3 That's my opinion.

desktops are better in the long term for the ugradability, but laptops are better for more casual use because you can move around, etc.

Desktops always win, you can build an awesome desktop for less than it cost to get most laptops that are even lower in power and storage capacity. Also Vista is great when you have more than 2GBs of memory- really no different from XP except a lot of the things just work better.

You can also make a pretty good mobile computer with a desktop - MicroATX boards in those little boxes are great and cheap.

But the mobility of a laptop and how it can do nearly everything a desktop can.

Hand mobile computers are a no no for anything greater than notes, tiny mini games, schedulers etc etc.

Not impressive enough, even for an artist.

I would have to go with a laptop but only because I need my computer at school... And when I'm done with school I'd be using it a lot with my new job...

I have to go with a laptop as well, mostly because I'm too lazy to mess with customizing my own tower, and I'm on a college that has full wi-fi coverage on campus, so it's highly convenient for me.

Desktops are in my opinion the best, you can easily repair them and upgrade them.

Building your own computer nets a better price/performance ratio. They're charging $1.4k for water cooling??? No thanks, not when a stand alone kit is only ~$250.
