Well i found out about wmp 11 on an other forum, so i figured i would try it out. Turns out right now it is a Beta release. My thoughts on it are that is a lot more appealing to the eyes, i think because it has the Vista look to it. As for user friendly-ness, I will give it a 8 out of 10, because it is a lot easier to work with than WMP 10, but some features are still slightly confusing. The only major complaint i have about it right now is that in the libary window it is hard to distinguish the side pane with the main window area. Well that is it for now i might post more after i use it awhile longer.

WMP 11 Beta

EDIT: Seems to play .mkv, .ogm, and .avi files, as well as DVDs, and mp3s fine.

Well, I got my new computer yesterday and it's been one long wrestling match since.

I've gotten some files loaded on from my old machine and now i'm into fighting the Media player.

Windows Media Player 11  I thought 10 was bad enough on my old machine so I reverted to 9.

Now about half of my Anime Music Videos will only play the audio because they're in AVI format. I thought people had to be exagerating somewhat about how bad Vista Was but I see they wern't.

Any ideas on fixes for WMP11 and AVI? I've been looking arround but haven't found anything terrifically useful.

Yeah- download the codecs again - like the divx codec ya know? Like you have to with all video players pretty much. Like how you probably downloaded it before on your old computer but forgot because it seems like something all computer should have because you use it so often but really it is just because you download movies and really not everyone does that except for well-- nerds and geeks like us who like anime and such...

If this weren't a necroboard I'd complain about necroposting. But since it is I'll do too.

Use vlc player, cccp, or even just get xvid if your looking for just Dvix avi support in WMP. rtfm, google etc...etc...

Necroposting still isn't allowed here, and this topic is oooooold. Just so you know.

The alternative would have been creating another thread with the exact same name.
